I live in Chicagoland and along the tollways are poles with what appear to be solar panels attached to them. Usually the pole has 2 panels and if I had to guess, I'd say each is about 2 feet by 1 foot in size.

They don't seem to be near any signs and I haven't identified a pattern of how they are place (for example, they don't appear to be place every "x" miles).

What are they?

I am interested in knowing which major city (over 1 million people) has the most abominably awful public transportation - trains, subways, buses. I believe mine does, but I am interested if another city has even worse public transportation.

it's 95 degrees hot and humid in the mornin, and i think i'm gonna be cool and dry for the rest of the day because i drive my car and then only have to walk 2 blocks to get from the parking deck to my destination... minimal persperation, no problem. Then when i sit down in a nice a/c'ed room with my bagel, computer, and yahoo answers, i realize i left my cell phone in the car. Therefore, to decrease the time it takes to go back to the parking deck, i run roundtrip. everything is ok until i head to the bathroom, take the shirt off, and start wiping the outpouring of sweat off my torso and buttocks.

Sitting here contemplating this incident, i look back at a time when i used to commute 2 hours one way, 30 minutes of which was devoted to walking from Penn station to 46th & lexington. that's when bringing an extra shirt was mandatory.

A car going 250mph on the highway will the cops chase the person and or if a guy is in a Jet going 2000mph would the army even chase him because it's too fast and i guess it's dangerous.

My first was a '61 Chevy ragtop. And my second was a '70 Edsel with no reverse - had to push it backwards when parallel parked. Also had to start it with a screwdriver - no key. :)

I have had different answers on whether I can drive to school and work or not. Is there anything I have to do to be able to drive to school and work because behind the permit it says: 16 Yrs - No 11 pm to 6 am driving unless with 21 yr or older licensed driver or driving to and from work.

Lane discipline
238: You should drive in the left-hand lane if the road ahead is clear. If you are overtaking a number of slower moving vehicles it may be safer to remain in the centre or outer lanes until the manoeuvre is completed rather than continually changing lanes. Return to the left-hand lane once you have overtaken all the vehicles or if you are delaying traffic behind you. Slow moving or speed restricted vehicles should always remain in the left-hand lane of the carriageway unless overtaking. You MUST NOT drive on the hard shoulder except in an emergency or if directed to do so by signs.

You people do your entire journey in the middle lane therefore rendering a third of the motorway useless. Why oh why do you do this? Please enlighten me.
If you are not one of these people please leave a comment

I just had the worst day of my life! First of all, I live with my mother, and my name is Ima S. hitte, which I get made fun of all the time! I never asked my mom, but I believe she named me that on purpose. Well any way I was walking down the street in my mom's 80's clothes, tight sweatpants, scrunchies, rainbow socks, and this cool 78' leather jacket, under it a long pink and blue striped sweater. And all of a sudden all of these teens starting coming up to me and making fun of me! They pushed me and said "move on ugly" and stuff like that. I couldn't handle it, so now I'm packing up my stuff in my favorite suitcase (mario brothers suitcase) I'm going to move out where people will understand me! Where should I Move? I have all of my mom's 80s clothes packed up and I'm ready.
