I have never driven the Veyron, but as a former valet car parker in the rich areas of Long Island New York, I have driven a few Diablos. Believe it or not, valet car parkers get very familiar with every single car that they drive. They quickly learn everything good and everything bad about various car makers. If you want a truly unbias opinion about which cars to buy and not to buy, ask a valet car parker. They all very quickly form the same opinions with other valets.

Anyway, in my experiences driving Lamborghinis, I have found several faults with the Lamborghini Diablo that include:

1. a steering wheel that is not aligned with your belly button, it is more inboard. It feels weird driving a car with the steering wheel not directly in front of you.

2. a footwell that impedes tremendously on your feet should be.

3. an extremely heavy clutch that requires you to absolutely stomp on it to engage, and then it aggressively pops your foot off of it as soon as you relieve even a slight amount of the pressure you are applying, spinning your tires as the clutch disengages.

4. a heavy stick that requires very deliberate and somewhat forceful movements to shift gears.

5. an absolutely obnoxiously loud engine that just penetrates your whole body.

6. seats that are very uncomfortable for more than a few minutes at a time.

7. an absolutely punishing ride. The Diablo transmits every single bump, road imperfection, movement of the steering wheel, movement of the clutch, braking, press of the accelerator, etc. right directly to your body.

I have never driven the Mercielago but I hear it addresses some of the problems of the Diablo. I here that the Gallardo even further perfects some of the shortcomings that even the Mercielago leaves behind.

I have a friend of mine up in New Jersey that ordered a black Gallardo. He is supposed to get it in October. If you stay in touch with me, I will let you know how I like it.
