My first was a '61 Chevy ragtop. And my second was a '70 Edsel with no reverse - had to push it backwards when parallel parked. Also had to start it with a screwdriver - no key. :)

Wicked. I want that car.

.. ok maybe not

Mine was a 1990 Audi 200. I called it Fergie. No idea why.

Coolant light was always on even if the coolant levels and temperature were ok - then the coolant started dripping from my car spontaneously. Smoke rose from time to time from the coolant compartment, so I had to pull over to the shoulder to let it cool off for a bit.

Driver's door couldn't close properly, especially in the winter - sometimes I drove short distances hanging on the door handle to keep it in.

Engine had a tendency to overheat, so in the summer I had the heat on full blast to let the heat out of the engine compartment.. one time my friend fell asleep in the passenger's seat and after he woke up his feet were all red from the heat blowing on him.

A/C didn't work.

Transmission blew.. got that fixed because I still had faith in the car.

Then brake fluid started to leak from the brake lines.

I gave up at that point.

'65 Mustang - it was over 20 years old when I got it and it was NOT in good shape mechanically but it sure looked good! The a/c only worked if you were going over 45 mph and the radio didn't work at all so I had my HUGE boom box in the back seat. Ahhh.... those were the days.

My first car was a 1991 Toyota Corolla with a manual transmission - the car I learned to drive a manual transmission. I bought it new all by myself at 21. Amazingly, my friend still drives it to this day with the ORIGINAL transmission and clutch. Toyotas are sure built to last!
