I have had two brand new style renault clio's, but both have the same problem. The handbrake warning light comes on whilst the vehicle is in motion, on the dashboard but the handbrake is completely off! Taken the vehicles back several times but renault fail to listen to me. They have changed the handbrakes, wires to and from the handbrake, the instrument panel...everything you can think of! Please help me... Surely i'm not the only one who has discovered this problem on 2 of the NEW SHAPE clio's! unless i'm a very lucky person!!

I have a MkII 1998 T reg clio, and there seems to be a leak from either the sunroof or windscreen as when it rains the fabric on the driverside column between the windscreen and side window becomes wet at the top. has anyone else had this problem, and if so how did you repair it? (p.s the sunroof is an electric one and very complex)

Would anyone buy a Renault Clio after seeing watchdog the other night? It's shocking that this problem is causing serious accidents, and that Renault will not even recognise that there is anything wrong!
For those that missed it, the bonnet catch is faulty and the bonnet is liable to fly up and hit the windscreen (smashing it), so that the driver can not see. This could happen on a motorway.

I don't think I'd feel comfortable buying ANY renault car now. Not after seeing their attitude to safety!!!

I have a 2003 Megane. I put the drivers window down yesterday and it wouldnt go back up. Friend a mechanic says the motor is gone on it - any idea how much this will cost to fix? Just 2 months out of warranty - typical !

I test drove a Renault Megane, about 5 years old. It was fine and smooth but when I changed gear every time I let the clutch back in the gear stick jumped under my hand. When I was driving along it moved around when I accelerated or braked, not just a bit of shake but maybe a half inch or more jerk on the gearstick knob in one direction or another. Is this normal in Meganes this age or as I suspect was there something wrong? I didn't buy, went for a much smoother Fiat Brava in the end.

I have had a few probelms with my clio in the past few weeks.
Recently the electrical fault warning light has been coming while driving, as soon as it does I lose power and cant accelerate over 30mph. I also have a similar problem with the exhaust monitoring light coming on. Both started happening at the same time so i'm assuming its related.

I took my car the the Renault Stealership today for a ECU fault read to see if they could find the problem (they reckond if it was just a computer problem the could re-programme it)

I got a call from them this afternoon to say thay plugged it in but the ECU was so far gone that their fault reader could not communicate with my ECU and so they could not re-programme it and I would need a new ECU unit costing about £500. Anyone any ideas what might have caused this cos the garage didnt really have a clue

I'm not to happy about paying for a problem if renault have been fitting faulty ECU's cars and waiting for warranty to run out???

I am going to buy a new car, I really like the renault megane and espace.

My dad says renault are notorious for being unreliable, but I'm not sure if he's getting this idea from years ago (you know what dads are like!!)

So does anyone have any up to date advice for me? You see a load of renaults around so surely they can't be that bad?....

My clios revs are limited to 3000, i think it happened after some work was done on it. Is this a timing/misfiring problem? It affects strong acceleration but is fine for gentle driving. Any help would be greatly recieved.
