My clios revs are limited to 3000, i think it happened after some work was done on it. Is this a timing/misfiring problem? It affects strong acceleration but is fine for gentle driving. Any help would be greatly recieved.

Maybe your car has a rev limiter. Ask someone where you bought the car from for more info. Otherwise something could be wrong with your car which could be one thing or more.

Revs should certainly not be limited to 3000. Since problem started when work was done that is where to look. If work done by garage take your car straight back and get them to check it. Remember even new parts are sometimes faulty.
Before offering any diagnosis I would need a lot more info: is it smooth to the point of 3000, at 3000 does it missfire or just "run out of steam", does it rev higher at low load, etc.

Hi

The revs should not be limited to 3000rpm. Has the engine management light come on? Its an orange light on the dash.

Cheers

No, your car has the Renault E7J engine. It has no rev limiter and should be able to hit 7000 or so.

You will be able to get an answer if you ask here: www.retro-renault.com

Hope this helps.
