I bought my son a 1989 Mercedes 190E (mint condition). Does the car come rustproofed adequately already? If not, what is the best way to do this? Can I simply by the stuff that comes in a spray can and do the undercarriage myself?

Only serious answers please- no need for sarcasm and insults as many folks here like to do

Wanting to buy one for my son.... any noteworthy problems I should be aware of? Overheating? Electrical? Engine? Reliability? What's been the top 2-3 problems you've run into and the cost for repairing them. thanks a bunch. Also, are they more problem prone than Toyota and Honda?

hi, i am looking to buy an 80's 300 wagon. there is one for sale around the corner for a grand, but it's not a turbo (that's a must for me) my question is, are the blocks the same? and can a turbo charger be added to a n/a motor? are the turbo motors a lower compression? i'm new to diesels. thanks john

Here's the average emissions numbers for a 1987 Mercedes Benz 420sel.
31 HC (PPM) 0.10 Co (%) 237 NO (PPM) @ 15 MPH
These are my numbers
161 HC (PPM) 0.12 CO (%) 469 NO (PPM) @ 15 MPH

Is there anything I can do to lower my numbers to pass a smog test without spending alot of cash

How do I fix this? Right now I open the hood and push the red shut-off bottom on the throttle linkage system. Is there a solenoid that is hung up or a wiring path that might be corroded?

Are Mercs still considered a "classy" car, or because of thweir recent popularity with the "lower social orders" and apparently crappy workmanship, are they now crass, like burberry is now?

Your thoughts?
