Hello, I bought a used mercedes c230 with 84,000 miles on it. The car seemed great, but I got a check engine light the next day. I took it back to the dealer but the car was sold "as-is" and illinois has no laws on returning used cars. Well they were able to get the check engine light resolved, but I did some researching and it looks like the c230's are actually not very reliable, and very expensive to maintain. I still have a loan out for $7900, plus a paid a 2600 dollar down payment. Although the car was listed for $8900 on the web. Something just doesn't seem right.. This is my first time buying a car and I feel like I am being completely ripped off. Please help, can I sell this thing, pay the bank.. get the title and get rid of it?

Yes, YES...a very bad experiment...but now MBZ can redeem itself by unloading such a distraction and start producing cars worthy of the name.

When we use the the oil brand other than mercedes product, is there any recommended specification for engine oil and ATF that will support the MB run in high performance, especially once applied in rainy & dry season country?

I currently own a 2006 Mitsubishi Evo IX. It's just way too expensive and uncomfortable for that matter. I planned on selling it and buying a C230 Kompressor Coupe. I however saw a few bad reviews for the C- class and was wondering if anyone here owns one of these vehicles and can give me some feedback. I basically want a car that has a little peppiness (I know it's not gonna be as fast as the Evo) but is still very comfortable to ride and drive. I am open to any suggestions please! I am also curious about the MPG on the Benz. But my main concern is comfortability, something that the Evo lacks GREATLY...and this is why I am considering a luxury vehicle at this point!

The first issue is cold starts in the morning. When I start the car in the morning it idles very rough then seems to settle down after about five minutes. I thought this was an obvious glow plug problem. I had all the glow plugs and the relay replaced but the problem persisted.

The second part to this idling problem takes place when the car is warm. A typical scenario is this: I’m driving on the freeway and the car is running perfectly. When I exit the freeway and come to an idle at say, a stoplight, the car starts to idle roughly. Sometimes the problem is so bad the car looks like an out of balance washing machine.

Despite my fears, the car has never died but it feels like it will at any moment. Overall, it feels like the car is starving for fuel. Maintenance wise, the filters are clean and I add the occasional fuel treatment.

Just last week, I had the injectors replaced, to the tune of 668.00. When I started the car the next morning the problem remained. Help!

A friend bought a 1986 Mercedes 560SL recently... the car is in pretty good shape considering it's age. The speedometer is working but the odometer isn't... I thought they usually work together? Does anyone have any idea what is the cause of the problem? and suggest a fix? Thanks.

Sometime, mostly vendors offer the thermostat with setting temp of 71 C instead of (higher than this or 87 C). Based on the reference I got, the current engine (newer not old engine) will run in better performance when apply the higher range of this thermostat i.e. 82 C to 91 C. Beside that, combustion will be more effisien and redue the polutant. Would you please tell us about the proper thermostat temp setting selection? thx.

Once I put "Drive", the RPM drop down to 500 to 1000 rpm. This condition make me unconfortable driving the car and other impact make gasoline much more consumed. For info: I have replaced the throttle valve due to car engine drop suddenly while I was driving, and multi core cables look bad. How to maintain the RPM in idle position to around 750 RPM and also not having big difference while we are in 'Drive" mode. Thanks.

Car stalls when coming up to a roundabout if i come down through the gears. if i go from 4th to neutral it doesn't always stall. If i accelarate hard then slow down it stalls. Removing the gas / petrol cap seems to fix the problem. There is a lot of suction whoosh when i undo the gas cap. My brother thinks i may have the wrong gas cap and need a ventilated cap not the one i have. Has anyone heard of this before?
