Some MB cars with 320 motors have a low air intake and are easily stalled by deep puddles of water. This is an appalling design fault and is not covered by any guarantee.
If you try to crank the engine you may cause severe engine damage if it has not already happened. Remove all the spark plugs then crank the motor. This will remove water in the top of the engine. After a period of drying the engine may run. Change the oil and count yourself lucky. If the engine is ruined, I would demand compensation, via a lawyer if necessary.

You need two or three things to start a MBz gasoline engine. You will need air and fuel and a working injector pump to get an air/fuel mixture into the combustion chamber. Then you will need an electronic spark delivered to the spark plugs at a precise time while the engine is being turned over by the starter motor.
You can remove the spark plugs and examine the plug contacts for moisture, and you can look into the cylinders to see if they are loaded up with sea water. Don't forget to check the fuel tank for water as well. If you have water in the fuel tank, you must start there first. Even a few drops of H20 will keep the engine from starting.

How high was the water? If you think the water level was above the level of the air intake, your car is probably done. Water doesn't compress: if it gets into the cylinders, you'll have a bent rod for sure. OTH, if the water only fouled your electrical system, just leave the car someplace dry for a couple of days, and it should start.
