1988 Ford Aerostar wont move in any gear engine runs fine but spins like Im in neutral. Has trans fluid. Oil leaks out. Ran fine until one afternoon. Started smoking from underneath. White smoke smelled like oil leaking onto an exhaust pipe. Lost power; then shortly no acceleration. Whining grinding sounds from underneath. Automatic overdrive transmission appears to shift fine no visible broken parts underneath. Shortly before all of this happened I did notice it seemed like the trans was slipping. It felt like it does when you need fluid. You acellerate it revs but doesnt catch... then seconds later it catches and accellerates. So I added fluid but it didnt help. In fact it got worse it drove a few more blocks in 1 or 2 , but slowly lost the power to go in any gear.

I have a 2005 F-150 with just under 29,000 miles on it. On the way home I noticed that the transmission started to slip. As I tried to make it home I noticed that the transmission would slip every time I got between 30 - 40 mph. Does anyone know what this could be? Does the transmission need to be replaced? Thanks for your help.

Ok... I know i should have got a v-8.... but really, 5 hp and 25 ft lbs of torque difference between a 4.2 and the 4.6? I'm looking at either a cold air system and either a 3' single or 2.5" dual exhaust. I'm not too sure about a chip (heard that it's good for diesels... not much change for gas)
