I have a 2005 F-150 with just under 29,000 miles on it. On the way home I noticed that the transmission started to slip. As I tried to make it home I noticed that the transmission would slip every time I got between 30 - 40 mph. Does anyone know what this could be? Does the transmission need to be replaced? Thanks for your help.

Please don't self diagnose a trans problem, especially since your vehicle is still covered under warranty.
Please take it to a Ford dealer, as soon as possible.
Transmissions, if going bad, don't give much 'prior warning'.
It looks like you've had your 'warning'
So just get it to the dealer & let them diagnose & fix it.
It is warranteed, bumper to bumper for 36 months or 36,000 miles....no charge...no deductable!

you didn't say if it was a standard or auto trans. the eao4 trans is usually good for 150,000 miles. check fluid level on level ground. rebuilding it would be expensive about 2thou. if you have a standard check the slave unit for fluid and possible air in the system, symilar to a hydraulic brake system. it could be a simple adjustment on the linkage.
also check for any miss fire in the engine. the auto trans will sense any missing as engine shut down an go into neutral momentarily.

Check fluid level first. Then take it to your dealer or transmission shop. Could be bands slipping or a clutch pack. It won't get better by itself. Good luck

you can see if there's enough fluid in there, but if you're already having to add fluid at 30,000 miles, then you probably have a problem you want to have fixed.

take it to the ford dealer and have them fix it. if it was just low on fluid, make them find out why so you can have any potential problems cleared up.

It could be the solenoid in the transmission. If it's your transmission, I'm sorry, it will cost you a lot.
