i just bought 800 dollars worth of speakers, subs and amps for my car. i didn't buy a new reciever yet because i am out of money and i was gonna hook everything to my factory deck until i get the new one. my dad said i shouldn't even bother because the old reciever is too shitty and would basically make the whole process pointless. i was planning on having everything hooked up for a few weeks until i get my new reciever, and then simply replace that, but is that a good idea?

I have a question about my car stereo system.?
I just installed a system in my oldschool and for about 3 days my system worked fine. But the other day my subs will cut off when I turn my volume up pass 20. I have already busted 4 fuses in my amp and checked my head unit and it seems fine and all my wiring is perfect. I was told it could be my battery, but I dont have trouble with my amp cutting off its just that my subs will not play after a certain volume. I also know its not my battery because I had this car for a while and the battery is only 2 years old. I need help figuring it out. I was also told that my ground may be bad. I checked that but its not that either.

I have my amp hooked on my subs on the back. Could that keep my subs from hitting at a certain volume? I think that may be the problem that keeps my subs from hitting when I turn up the volume in my car.

I have power running from my battery to my trunk, from there it goes through a Dual-Amp Maxi-Fused Distributor Block which splits the power into 2 parts. The first part goes to a 4 channel amp that is grounded and connected to my 2 rear 6x9 speakers. The other half goes through my mono amp which is connected to a 10 inch sub-woofer and is also grounded.

From my car's stock power supply for my radio i have power running through a noise filter and then to my radio. From my radio there is an RCA cable running all the way back to my mono amp and from that amp it is connected to my 4-channel amp. The RCA cables i use are gold plated monster cables.

My four channel amp is not connected to the front 2 speakers which are stock and don't do much.

My question is I am getting engine noise from my 2 rear 6x9 speakers. What can be the cause, I hope I gave enough detail.

I have a 400 watt 2 ohm amp pushing a 2 12 inch subs that are MTX with a 1350 max watt. I had this same system in my Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo. I put this system in my 1986 Cutlass Supreme Brougham about 1 week ago. For about 3 days my system would play just fine. But for some reason when I turn up my volume on my Jensen In Dash dvd player. My amp will stay on but my subs will no longer hit. When I turn the volume down, the subs will come back on and hit. I had this same system in my Jeep and I had no problems. I have 4 guage wires for the battery and gnd wire hook up. Like I said it worked for 3 days just fine. My amp will stay on but the subs will not hit for nothing. My gnd is hooked up to the trunk of my car and its touching bare metal. Also my lights do not flicker or did not flicker when it was working fine. My battery is 2 years old. My alternator my be the problem but my car is getting the proper charge. Also it started the day I jump started someones car. My alt is good.

I just bought 2 - 12" Audiobahn AW1206T Sub's. Whats the best amp for these? I want to run them @ 1000 Watts RMS each @ 2 Ohm's. And I don't want to break the bank on the amp either. lol

What would you suggest?

I listen mostly to rap so solid clean hitting subs are a must.

....one of your stupid neighbors has a very loud car stereo and it shakes your house. He just sits in his driveway and makes noise. I mean nothing against music but it is noisy and bassy and my knick knacks are going to fall off the shelf. I am going to drive around and locate the 1980something red cavalier with a huge dent in the side... I see it all the time. It rattles and looks like s***. I love music but not the kind that shakes my house when I am trying to do school work....!! Kill. Wreck.

OK. My dome lights never worked. The truck had no radio and butchered wires. I tried to install a radio and it didnt work. I did get the dimmer portion working. I accidnetally shorted the dimmer switch wire and now my interior lights on the dash dont work.

I went into the fusebox and replaced an obviously cooked 15 amper. Now the map lights above the dash work and the noise when you run the lights and the car is off works.

I also found a cooked 10 amper which I have yet to replace. Here are my questions?

Would the 15 amper that controls the map lights and the warning tone for the lights also control the constant and switched 12v wires for the radio?

Could the cooked 10 amper be the interior dash lights? I dont have another 10 amper to put in. will I cook it if it throw in a 15 to test with?

I have an older Lexus and would like to have Satellite Radio. My sister has it in her new Honda Pilot and loves it. And since I commute 35-55 minutes a day I think it would work out for me. How are the systems that you install and which company is the best?

Hi, I'm just trying to install a new head unit into my Clio (1998) to replace the original tape player that was in there. After connecting all the wires (using the harness adapter) and aerial... the system powers up and finds radio stations but has no sound coming out of the speakers??

Ok, Got my two subs goin in whenever I can get all the tangibles (wires, brackets, TIME) together. Install should be easy since I got my dad who is a wiring genius. What I want to know is if the pigtail RCA's on the back of the radio are dependent of the bass and treble control on the radio's speakers. I want to boost the bass to the subs and reduce the bass to the other 4 speakers. Would reducing the bass on the radio reduce the bass from the sub? Any other way to do this? I have a Dual XD7510 reciever if you care. Thanks
