I have my amp hooked on my subs on the back. Could that keep my subs from hitting at a certain volume? I think that may be the problem that keeps my subs from hitting when I turn up the volume in my car.

Although your question is quite vague. It sounds like your amp, which I am guessing is a cheap one, is hitting a thermal protection. You should watch the amp when it shorts, there is probably a red light that comes on. If it is not a cheap amp, then I would check your ground, if that is perfect, it is time to upgrade to a heavier power cable. Once again I would need more info to really answer this question.
