JL Audio makes the best subs and amps. I have an alpine and it is very good for a lot less money. My friend has a bunch of HiFonics and thinks they are the best. It depends how much money you have. For bass you should always use a mono amp not 2-channel. The mono amps are made specifically for bass and will give you much more power without overheating. You can still use one mono amp for two subs if you want.

NEVER GET SONY EXPLODE!
I suggest hifonics or earquake power house series because you can slave the amps and save on running alot of rca cables. they sound great and have a very low thd level which is distortion there levels are something like .001% THD. that is very good. but if your money is low try the new crunch amps also made by maxsonic same people who make hifonics just a little easier on the pockets. good luck hope this helps.

There a whole bunch now days. You can't really tell anymore but I would go with MTX. My bro has a old school amp and it still shakes people's window when he drive by.

Alpine all the way baby, in my opinion though. Low THD and better efficiency.
