i've got some 8 gauge power wire that was used for an amplifier.

and i was just wondering if i can use that power wire on my subwoofers.

the reason i want to use it is because i have 2 1000watt RMS subwoofers. and i am sending them the full 1000watts RMS to each one.

but i only have 14 gauge speaker wire. so obviously i need somethin a little more beefy.

so would the 8 gauge power cable do. or am i going to need to buy myself some thicker "speaker" wire

When i got my car, the previous owner had installed an alpine mrv-t420 amp that is all wired up and working. Now i just want to add a kicker 10" sub to the setup and my question is....do i just need to connect the sub to the amp with 12gauge wire or is there another step i am missing?

The CD player in my car has been acting up. Every time I try to put in a cd who are not scrached up in any way it always gives me an error read message and won't play the music. I use the CD player a lot since I don't want to listen to the stuff that is on any of the radio stations. It always played fine and now it's doing this crap. I have never messed with it in any way either. I just want to know what to do, I'm kind of tired of listening to wind every day.

You will need Microsoft Excel, a multi-meter and a way to burn an audio CD from an MP3.

This above is a link to an .XLS file that will help you:

1) set the gain control correctly to prevent subwoofer damage
2) determine whether a high output alternator is needed
3) calculate the correct power wires to use for your amp

If you want to keep your system running to it's peak performance, I would highly recommend you take a look.

Feedback is appreciated.

I have a 1978 MG B, with an Alpine CD deck, and front speakers (in the door panels). I'd like to add some back speakers but am having trouble finding the right kind (and place for them). Anyone else put some in?

I'm guessing I need some surface mount speakers, but I haven't found a good set of those either.
