Yes, all capacitors have an "Internal rersistance" which causes their charge to fade away in time. However, those 1-Farad caps hold their charge for quite some time, so the actual current they draw to "top up" the charge is pretty small.

If you are really concerned, get a battery charger and leave it hooked up to your car for the 10 months it's in storage.

A correct functioning capacitor - in spite of the cost in micro farads or farads will actually no longer drain your battery - once charged, there is not any DC modern-day charm to a capacitor. imagine of the capacitor as a reservoir of modern-day - at the same time as it really is charged and the battery voltage drops by using a surprising boost interior the load, the capacitor discharges, conserving the voltage at a particularly good factor. No the Capacitor is designed to hold the charge for your car. It will draw power and store it for when for some reason the battery or alternator is not putting out enough power to keep everything running fully. For instance when your subs are pounding at night and your lights are dimming the capacitor is there to provide the extra power that it has stored for you during the rest of the time you are driving.

No, a capacitor just stores electricity, nothing else.

It could be the fact that the truck sits for 10 months at a time.

your capacitor is what helps from draining your battery in the first place.

Its not your capacitor, look up oxidisation in relation to a lead acid battery, it will kill them being left unused, as you have found out. nuf said
