Hi,
Where did you purchase your dash kit for your 97 Blazer? There are several places you can buy from, but there is mainly one place that you shouldn't rely on, for their Dash Kits or Wiring Harnesses. That would be Wal-Mart, even though they are a bit cheaper, and it specifies that it will fit on your vehicle, sometimes those kits are missing essential pieces needed for your install, or they just won't fit right at all. Also, since you said the stereo will not fit flushlly with the kit, make sure the wires behind have enough slack, that they can tuck behind the unit, because it's very easy for the wires to keep the stereo from going all the way in. Another thing that you can check is, if you used the "sleeve" that outer covering, that goes over the body of the stereo, make sure the tabs aren't bent outwards, until the stereo meets flushly with your kit, then bend the tabs on the top and bottom of the "sleeve" to hold the stereo in place. The reason I know why some of the Wal-Mart kits do not work, is because I work for my Local Circuit City, and I'm a Car Audio Specialist/Installer. If you have a Circuit City, or Best Buy you can go to, one of their kits will definitely work for you, another alternative would be trying a Local Car Audio Shop, Good Luck

You may have the wrong kit or you may have a radio that is too deep to fit into the opening. Pull your radio out and see if there is anything behind the radio preventing it from going in all the way. Usually, it's just a big wiring harness plug that can be moved out of the way. Many cars have a metal tab that supports the back of the stock radio. If this is the problem, just bend it down so it's out of the way. If its something that can't be moved, like a defroster duct, then you will have to choose a different radio that is not as deep. Measure your maximum depth of the hole and get a radio that is smaller than that. The measurements will be on the box.
