My buddy is giving me a deal on a JL audio13W7 subwoofer, what else do i need to get this thing goin? I.e. head unit amp box etc.

any ole head unit will do, as long as it has RCA pre-outputs it'll work just fine. some HU's have pre-outs for fronts, rear, and subs, and some only have one output. HU's are more personally peferance then anything.

IIRC the 13w7 is 1,000 watts rms. so your gonna want to get a amp thats about the same. most 1,000 watt amps get pretty pricy. i'd recomend this Kenwood Excelon cause its a hella deal, and it will give you great sound.

as far as the box, thats up to you if you want to go ported or sealed. ported is more for just all out loud, and sealed is more for sound quality. if i were you i'd have a box made for it according to JL's specs.

your also going to need a amp kit. with 1,000 watts your right on the boarder on weather to get 4 gauge, or 1/0. 4 gauge will be a cheaper kit, but i think i'd stay on the safe side and go with 1/0. you dont want to starve your new investment for power.

for the best sound quailtiy for the jl audio w7 u want to get the jl audio 1000/1 mono block amp. thats the recomended amp and it will blow your balls off when u hear it with that amp
trust me u wont regret it cuzz
