I hooked up 2 10" subwoofers (250 rms each) and 2 4"x10" rear speakers (150 rms each) to a 4 channel amp (75 rms per channel). It was working fine for about a week, then the rear right speaker smoked, stank, then the amp went into shut down mode. The 2 subs and the rear left all work until the amp shuts down. I have a 1.5 farad capacitor leading into the amp, and my ground is secured tightly to the frame of the car with about 8 inches of 4 g wire between the amp and the bolt holding it down. I have checked and dble checked to make sure there is no pinching of any wires, and I can't figure out what is going on. Please help if you can. Everything is rated at 4 ohms, nothing is in bridged or parallel mode. It is straight wired: 4 channels, 4 speakers.

I'm buying a kicker comp 10" in a box this weekend but I don't have the money to puchase the amp too. Will my Blaunkput Casablanca 4x50watts cd player power the sub good until I buy an amp? Also, any suggestions on a realatively cheap amp that complements this speaker? Thanks... Also it is not a cvr... It's just a kicker comp 10. I belive it's a 300watt sub.

There are 3 posts for the amp power - 12V, REM (remote) and Ground. Can I bypass the remote or somehow trick the amp to think it's on? Once it's on, can I turn it off? Would it work to put an in-line switch on the power cable? I don't want to use my car-sterio at all - it doesn't even work.

So right now I have 2 sony subs being powered 50 watts each bridged to 8 ohms. I love this, just loud enough to rattle windows. But, What I want to do is use that amp (a rockford) to power my 6x9's and get a new amp that would put 125 watts per sub at 8 ohms. What the real question is, is how can I wire these subs? Do I put them each to a channel? or do i bridge the amp and then run the 2 speakers at 8 ohms? It is the same wattage and the only difference is the resistence. What should I do and why?

Does anybody have a 12-Band Cobra with voice and do you like it? I just made a purchase and was wondering if it would be a good one! According to user reviews a lot of people liked them a lot and said they get very good range and give a lot in the way of advanced warning.

just purchased a 91 Chevy Beretta, I have done good maintenence to it, now all I need are good speakers. I have a snatch out cd player in it, but the speakers are very low and monotone, the guy who sold me the car said I should get new speakers back there. So I am looking for speakers between the price range of $60-$90 dollars, nothing with too much heavy bass but good sound quality bass and treble and something that will play loud enough for people to hear outside the car in the summer. What brand of speakers should I look for? how many watts? power? and what size? and where can I purchase them from? and how should I go about installing the speakers?

I was looking for somone to help me design my car audio. I have a basic design i belive, but i need help modifying it to the best i can get. I will have the names of everything in here, they can be found on Crutchfield.com under these names.
Subs - Infinity Kappa Perfect 12.1 = I want these to play 18-200
Midbass - Kicker SSMB8 - Want these in kick pannels play 180 - 500
Door Speakers - Polk Audio db6500 - High end 480- 8000 for the woofer, and then 7980 - 20k for tweets.
Back Speakers - Don't matter.

Now i need Idea's for amps and cross-overs to get for the gear above, or any other suggestions on what to get for gear.

I have the Infinity Ref. 611a for the subs.

Or can i get a replacement from the store.I pretty much know what im doing, but im not an expert or anything. Is a malfunction or not? It's hooked up to 4 gauge wire and is outputing to two bazooka 10 in. subs. I had all the settings on the amp were at the lowest . I used low frequency outputs on the subs. I also double checked the ground and power input(+12v).

1000W peak output, bridged
