i just baught 4 infinity speakers, and two of them are 300w, and 2 are 150w. i have a 1000w amp with 2 10' jbl subwoofers. the deal is whenever i turn it up really loud, i kinda sounds like my speaker is making a farting noise. it usually only does this for rock and roll songs, and i know they arent blown. can anybody shed any light on this mater???

so, say just for kicks i'm wiring an amp to my *stock* head unit, and i'm too lazy to pull apart the dash and such until i get my aftermarket unit, and i've only wired amps to aftermarket head units (not that it makes much difference) ... what route should i take as far as the blue remote wire goes? if i wire it to a fuse in my fusebox, does it get wired to something with constant power, or with power that only kicks on when the car is turned on? oooor, should i just wait for the aftermarket head unit? ;)

A 2 Gage Wiring Kit
A 4 Farad Capacitor
A Power Acoustik A3000DB - 2,300 watts RMS @ 1 ohm and 3,000 watt peak

would this setup be loud? i know L7's are not known for quality, but how about for loudness? Can you recomend any thing different? Please comment on my setup first before recomending anything. I want this set up to be loud and be able to feel it.

Answer:

Clipping is one form of distortion that occurs when an amplifier is overdriven, which happens when it attempts to increase voltage or current beyond its limits.

When an amplifier is asked to create a signal greater than its maximum capacity, it will amplify the signal only up to its maximum capacity, at which point the signal will be amplified no further. As the signal simply "cuts" or "clips" at the maximum capacity of the amplifier, the signal is said to be "clipped." The extra signal which is beyond the capability of the amplifier is simply cut off, resulting in a fixed signal. Note that this fixed signal suffers from other forms of distortion, such as total harmonic distortion.

Because the clipped waveform has more area underneath it than the smaller unclipped waveform, the amplifier produces more power in clipping. This extra power can damage any part of the loudspeaker, including the woofer or the tweeter.

I have a 2003 Toyota 4 Runner with a factory JBL 6 disc in dash unit. There are steering wheel controls to change cd, station, volume, etc. Can I still use these controls if I purchase an after market head unit, like a Sony or Alpine? Is there some converter I need to buy?

I would like to know which car audio should I go in for? Alpine, blaupunkt, pioneer, jvc. I would like to know which among these brands is reliable, good sound fidelity. Please suggest the head unit from among these brands and the speakers from among the same brands. My budget for the head unit is 9000 /- rupees and for the speakers is 4000 /- rupees. Please suggest, if possible, the model number and the specs of the recommended brand. Thank you.

My Vectra car has a screw-in aerial above the back (tinted) window. The am radio reception is terrible. What can I do to get a clear reception? I live in Newcastle but my favourite station is Sydney 702. I'm also missing Radio National. Even the local ABC radio (1233) is very poor. Thank you.

I dont want sirius because I find their content boring. I want XM, and I want the best sound quality available because Im into loud music/car audio. Will I be able to directly connect Xm to my radio, and have it display on my JVC head unit, instead of a tuner, and just get the little antenna thing/box? IF not, can I get a plug and play? Lastly, will it use my subs? I want the best quality available, and I want it to play through my subs
