I dont want sirius because I find their content boring. I want XM, and I want the best sound quality available because Im into loud music/car audio. Will I be able to directly connect Xm to my radio, and have it display on my JVC head unit, instead of a tuner, and just get the little antenna thing/box? IF not, can I get a plug and play? Lastly, will it use my subs? I want the best quality available, and I want it to play through my subs

Despite what the answerer prior to me stated, Sirius and XM ready are NOT the same things as having an Auxiliary input. The major difference is that you can change the channels and see the title and artist on your car stereo display, and there are receivers made specifically for your head unit, rather than using a plug and play.

XM has come out with a device that will allow you to use a Sirius Ready JVC head unit. It's called XM Direct. Here's a link to Crutchfield's page on it:

You need that piece and the XM Direct receiver with antenna. The whole shebang costs $80. You get the best sound quality, you can use your head unit's controls, you can still hook up other JVC accessories like a CD changer and you can see the channels and song texts all on your head unit's display. It's a lot cleaner looking of an install than a plug and play. It will play through your subs just like anything else. Enjoy satellite radio!

If you get it, don't get one of those little plug and play radios for the car. Buy a new radio for the car. Honestly, if you driving too far away from where you would normally be listening to it, you will end up having to find a new radio station to tune the plug and play unit to. Some channels you might have to use don't come in too well. When I had it, I didn't like it. I got rid of it last December. Oh and forget about having it for your house. You will be spending hours trying to get the antenna in a good position to get reception, kinda like the old style TV antenna's. They(Sirius) played mostly junk songs on the hip-hop/rap channels. I was pretty much stuck with listening to channel 1 or 9. Those were the two channels that played any decent music. The Talk channels are not commercial free. Just the Music channels are. The cost of the subscription is about 12.95 a month. I know Sirius use to have deals if you got a 1 year subscript. or more. If you have the money, that would be a better deal. Also, many of the Music channels have cussing allowed on them. If you are in a car with young ones or someone you don't want to be subject to that language then you will have to find some safe channels that don't allow bad words, there are a few. I use my iPod in my car and alternate between that and the radio(terrestrial) Hope that helps. Good Luck with your choice!

XM, Sirius, its all the same when it goes into your stereo. Most of them that I have seen are input through normal RCA jacks. Just because it is "Sirius" or "XM ready" doesn't mean alot, it just means it had an input channel. Hell you could hook your IPod into it.

And to the second part of yoru question. Does your radio as it is now play into your subs? Yes you say? Then yes, it will play into your subs just the same. Not even going to be an issue.

hope this answers your question, good luck
