There is no "best" only preference as you will see. What's best for one person may not be best for you.
Go to a pro audio shop and grab a listen, only your ears know what you like.

I have to agree with Sparkey 3489 and Italianpanther7. You need to listen for yourself and make your own decision. Also, buy what you can afford. This is a big expense, depending on how far you want to go. Also, a name brand doesn't mean it's the best. I proved this along time ago on a bet. Someone told me that if I used non-name brand items, and he used name brand stuff, that he's would sound better, perform better, and over all be better. Well, I made him eat his words pretty quick. My "cheap" sound system sounded just as good as his, if you sat in and heard it play. The only way you could tell if it wasn't as good as his, is if you had a spectrum analyzer. People were telling me how good mine sounded, and how loud it was. And I didn't spend half as much as my buddy.
So, only advice I can give you. Buy what you can afford, and listen to it yourself to see if you like it. Cause your the one who has to listen to it while your driving all over the place. And if you don't like it, then what's the use of spending the money for it?

I would not say there is any best!
It is more a question of what you want and how much you wanna spend!
Everyone has there own preferences when it comes to the brand name!

It depends on what type of music you listen to, if you like rap and hip-hop than you should get something powerfull like Alpine, if you like rock or techno then you should get a less bass orientated system such as Pioneer or just a less watt output

Chicken Boy prefers Pioneer. Every piece of audio equpiment in my truck is Pioneer and it sounds great.

its all personal preferance, but personally i like Boston Acoustics the best.
Bose is junk, and so is Sony. good lord people.
