I like Rockford Fosgate for subs. I like them for amps too. Right now I'm using a Audiobahn amp to push Fosgate subs and it has some serious thump. My buddy has a Fosgate amp goin to his subs(Fosgate) and it sounds way better, for the money though Audiobahn has been good to me. Dont forget to get a capacitor also, it'll keep your headlights from dimming when youre thumping, 1 farad should suffice.

I like pioneer for amps and Infinity or Boston Acoustic for speakers.
I believe it is better to invest more in speakers and less in amps if you must compromise somewhere. Two reasons - amps are easier to get to in most systems if you run into some bucks to upgrade, plus amps these days are all getting to be on a much more level playing field in terms of sound quality (the cost compromise is in reliability and other areas).

I personally use Hifonics for my amplifiers. They offer reliable power at a decent price. My amplifier, the Brutus 2000waat bxi2006d does 2000 waats at 1 ohm. ive even run it at 1/2 ohm and it handles like a champ. I use MMATS subwoofers. Its a subwoofer that is well known among dbdrag and the sound competition community. I use the mmats dreadnaut. if youve got the money go mmats, they are pricey, but very well worth it.
