I have a 2003 Toyota 4 Runner with a factory JBL 6 disc in dash unit. There are steering wheel controls to change cd, station, volume, etc. Can I still use these controls if I purchase an after market head unit, like a Sony or Alpine? Is there some converter I need to buy?

Neno is correct, there are adaptors that you can purchase for particular head units, but be prepared to spend an extra $50-100 plus the installation charge.
