i have a pioneer deh-7700. i am putting in a pair of jvc 2000 watt 6.5" in the doors to go with 2 mtx 12" subs 400 watt, and a power acoustik 520 watt amp. what i am wondering is, should i just use the jvc 6.5" or should i also use the factory 4x6"? i just want clear sound with some clean bass. its going in my 04 silverado extended cab

Almost all aftermarket speakers produce better sound than factory installed ones. In fact, I don't think there are any aftermarket speakers at all that are worse than OEM speakers. So it will sound better.

My setup in a '97 Sierra Extended Cab is:

- 6.5" Infinity Reference Component Speakers (6.5" door and seperate tweeter in the door handle front with the supplied crossover inside the door)
- 4" x 6" Infinity Reference Rear Speakers (Infinity claimed that these are a stock fit, but the magnet is too big for the "third door" on my truck, so I built a couple of small wood enclosures and mounted them)
- 10" Infinity Reference Sub in a .75 cu ft enclosure that sits under the rear bench on the driver's side (just enough room to get enclosure to fit)
- Pioneer 760 - 2 channel bridged to drive the sub
- Pioneer 600 - 4 channel to drive the small speakers

Using line level input from the factory head to the 600 and then coax from it to the 760 for inputs. The factory head keeps the thieves away.

I listen to mostly jazz guitarists; I absolutely couldn't be happier with the sound. It is loud enough to rattle my pants cuffs while I drive, and the Infinity speakers reproduce cymbals and other very high frequencies like nothing else on the market.

Invest in some replacements for the factory 4 x 6's. While you have it all apart to install everything, you might as well do it.

Factory speakers are usually garbage. they will not have the power rating or the fidelity of the aftermarket JVC's.
You claim to want clear sound, so if you hook up the 4x6, at higher volume levels they will distort before the jvc and will reduce your overall sound quality!

Seeing as how you already got subs, it may also be a good idea to cross over your jvc's at like 60-90Hz high pass.
