Does he have to be there when I trade it in, if I'm still making payments?

I am planning on buying a car and I want to pay cash so that I will not have to worry about the payments later. The saleperson yesterday said I was making a bad choice by paying in cash? Was he being honest? or does he have some financial motivation for having potential customers finance cars?

If you had the option to buy or lease a $60,000 car, and you could afford both options, which one would you choose? Considering that you don't have to keep the car more than 5 years.

I am thinking of purchasing a 2002 Ford Thunderbird from a local dealership (pre-owned, obviously).

only 40k or so miles on it, $25k, and it is a convertible hardtop.

got a few questions, did this year/model have an automatic opening hardtop, or is it all down by hand?

was this car a good car, performance, fuel economy, and what is the fun factor? how does it compare to a new mustang, which i am also thinking of buying instead?

I want detailed answers on this specific make of car. no opinions that I should go with another make. links to websites would be appreciated, but should not be the only thing in responses.

thanks.

I bought a car from a party and they also said they would finance the car for me. Now I feel like the guys trying to rip me off always claiming this is due and that is due for taxes, tags etc. When I get annoyed and tell him I'm fed up with this he says fine I'll just report the car stolen to the authorities and let them deal with it. Can he do this even if we have a signed contract with both of our drivers licenses under the contract and signature? The car is insured by me. Can I get in trouble if he reports the car stolen? The contract clearly states that I am taking posession of the car and I am to make payments monthly. I also haven't been a day late on a single payment and have the records to prove it.

Bought a new car on finance for 10.64 % APR(very high) in FEB 07 - corolla LE. My credit score that time was in 600's. I am planning to apply for refinance in mid or late 2008. During this period, i will try to take my credit score to 700's. By how much my APR would go down if i apply for refinace in 2008 with a credit score in 700's

I have a 1998 Dodge Stratus which is getting too old to function as effectively as a newer vehicle. I was wondering what new (2007+) cars are out there for around $14000 and are good quality cars. Things I want in it will be ABS, Automatic, Black exterior, & good gas mileage. Also I want it to be a cuter car, for a girl in her low 20's.

I was looking at a 2007 Nissan Versa, but what are the bonuses and minuses of this and any other cars you may list?

Or should I spend money to completely fix my Stratus? (ie paint job, tires, some new parts, and tune-up). Its a very dependable car..but has 115K miles on it currently. How much would it cost to fix it up?

What do you think?

I've been asked to bring my 1099's to a dealership....Is that normal? Would the lender that is financing me check with the IRS to confirm the validity of my tax documents?

I am in Canada since a week or so and I will move from Ottawa to Toronto these days. I am 21 and need to buy a car. The thing is that I'm looking for something more sporty as a start and for good price-a car for young man. So what will you recommend me as a first car. Thanks

This is getting increasingly frustrating. Because of my budget, I am looking only at Ford Fiesta's (Budget v Running costs v Reliability).

However, practically 95% of used Fiesta's are massively marked up by both traders and private sellers. Usually in the region of £600-1000.

I check on Parkers to confirm the "average" used price of these cars. They do not have a below average mileage or anything else which makes them special, so why do sellers overcharge so much? It is so frickin irritating.

There is no way you are going to barter someone down by £1000, so I basically just give up viewing 90% of cars I find.

Why is it that FIesta's are marked up so much? DO dumbasses out there actually pay over the odds for these average run-of-the-mill cars?

And why does it seem that anything south of Liverpool overcharges for cars by such a huge amount?

Thanks for help.

Buying tips welcome.

Okay, here's the deal. I'm currently looking at the following USED cars under $25K in order of preference:

-Acura TL 2005
I really like the Acura TLs. The only thing that's bothering me is that new generation TL models will be out fall of 2008.

- Nissan Z 2005
Looks like a nice affordable sports car.

- Mazda RX8 2005
Again a very nice affordable sports car.

I'm also looking at the NEW 2008 models of:

- Honda Accord Coupe 2008 (under $25K brand new)
Will be out next month. I saw some online pics... they have totally revamped the coupe, looks a lot like those Audi coupes. But it's an Accord... but it can be bought brand NEW whereas the TL has to be USED in the same price range.

- Benz C 300 Sport 2008 ($38K brand new out the door)
This is out of my budget. I test drove it... I just adore the new AMG inspired body style it has... especially the front of the car. I don't know if it's going to be worth it or not...

So I checked out this 1996 Grand Am today, and I like it a lot, but I'm wondering if the price is too high..the car is 3,000$ and he said that he won't accept any less than that because he bought it for 2,600$ and is putting AC in it.

I had a friend check the engine and stuff, and he said that it was ok...I'm going on Monday to test drive it to see if it drives okay. The previous owner was an older lady who purchased it in 2005, the car has 115,XXX miles.

He will accept payments, he wants a couple hundred down and about 50$ every two weeks. Although he said the interest will be 16%, is this bad?

Soo from the above information, can you tell me if the car is worth 3K? Thanks

I bought a used car 2 weeks ago and am looking to sell it (long story). The title is in the original owners name as I haven't had time to title it myself yet. Can I sell this car to a private buyer or do I need to title it in my own name first? I do own the car outright and there are no liens on it. The title is clear, it's just not in my name.

I'd like to trade in my car (it's paid for) and get cash back for it and use that cash to pay off my high-interest credit cards. Can you do that? Or does your trade in value have to be put towards the purchase of the new car? I can get a car loan with much lower interest rate and the car payment would be a lot cheaper than my credit card payments together. Think this is a good idea?

I bought a new car last year and I cannot keep up with the payments. I still owe about $10,000 on it, and the trade in value is just under $7,900. How would I go about getting rid of the car and getting a used one to acheive cheaper payments? I would be doing this with less-than-perfect credit and no down payment. Serious answers only please, thanks!
