If you search the car on "Yahoo! Autos" they'll give you an estimate of what the dealer invoice is. That is, what THEY spend on the car. Technically you can talk them down as low as that price. First, test drive it, express how much you LOVE the car, then sit down for negotiations and explain to them its just too high, i want to spend more like this much, and then keep haggling til you can get them closer and closer to their invoice.

This depends on make, model and popularity of the particular model. Research your question on www.kbb.com. It's a good site with invoice info, etc.
