I have a 1983 Bayliner with the Volvo Penta AQ125A motor and the 270 sterndrive. For some reason it is very difficult to turn over and drains the battery in 3 or 4 tries. I have a new battery and cables, but need to figure out why it uses so much power to turn over.

I'm looking to take my family out over the weekend and rent a jet ski. I can tow one if they rent it with a trailer or i'd be happy to rent one at a dock for half a day. I have looked and looked online and I can find nothing. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

even before the throttle is all the way down. I won't gain any more speed and I'm only going about 6 mph. Before the problem I would go about 27 mph. I've replaced the coil packs, plugs and wires, powerhead gasket, rectifier, stator, water pump (was over heating, steam out of pee hole, runs cool now, bath water warm), adjust float on on one carb, and adjust the fuel mixture. Fuel pumps and filters look fine. Motor runs great, better than ever, starts awesome , idiles great, loss of power when taking off and wont go any faster. Anyone know what is causing this? I think it may be electrical and my shop book doesn't cover enough to be any help.

I removed the lower case to have some work done to it. When I reinstalled it I now have problems shifting. There was what appeared to be 2 drive shafts between the upper and lower case. I assume one is for the water pump? The other is obviously to drive the prop. Does my shifting problems have to do with the shafts?

There's a behemoth of a gray navy transport ship visible from the SF Giants ballpark (AT&T Park). The ship has blue white and red funnels, cranes and what appears to be a ramp at the stern. I'm intrigued to know the name and history of the ship.

I bought the kit : http://www.sterndrive.info/sterndriveparts/mercruiser_water_pump_kits.html...

The black rubber impeller in teh old unit has teh "arms bent so it can rotate easily in the housing. To fit tehnew impeller into teh housing I need to get all the rubber vanes bent so it fits in. Its jsut seated so tight to rotate I am worried soemthing is wrong. Is thsi normal? And how do you decide which way to bend tehvanes when inserting it.

This is for a wiper aboard a ship. The original holders are flat aluminum and are 31" long. The rubber inserts have dry rotted over the years. A bulk roll of wiper blade material would be ideal. I just can't find any place that sells this rubber insert material in bulk.
