These batteries were functionally dead, yet on a volt meter showed they were fine. I wasn't until we put a load tester on them that were saw their true state. We further tested each battery with a hydrometer and both showed 'replace'. What I don't understand is how can a battery show it is fully charged when looking at the volts and yet be dead? Is it the 'amps' that are dead? Is there an instrument that I can hook up to a battery and have it show me how many amps it has? Such as a battery is rated as having 400 cranking amps at 32 degrees F. I want to know how many amps are in a particular battery. Can this be done? Thanks, Ed

There are so many diversions around where I live it is taking me 30 minutes to get to work in the morning and it only takes 10 minutes to get home. I hate queuing traffic and sometimes scream in the car. Any tips on coping with long traffic queues?

I got 1998 mustang gt, yellow color. Car was repainted before me and old paint started to chip. I want to repaint my car to a black color. Just wanted to see if someone can recommend me a good paint shop in Los Angeles area and how much will it cost (approximately)? Also if bodywork needed (I have little dent on a passenger rear end) will it bump up a price too much?

I got rearended a little bit ago and called the insurance company of the guy that hit me. I was told to get an estimate for my car and call the insurace company back and let them know who was going to be doing it and they would just give me a check for what the estimate was. Well I got the estimate and called back. I talked to a different person this time and he said he would pay directly to the body shop instead of giving me the check. Well I plan to pocket the money and not get the car fixed. He asked me on the phone whether I wanted to really get the car fixed, or if I wanted to pocket the money. I wasn't sure if this was a trick or not, so I told him I wanted the car fixed. Can I tell them that I want to pocket the money and not get it fixed? Or what should I do? Thanks.

Being at one time a HGV driver I have seen numerous Incidents where there was only one escape when the traffic ahead was at a standstill, that escape from full impact collision at maximum motorway speed being the hard shoulder. I dread to think of the consequences of not having that escape. What do you think?

I know the airplane has many safety features, but when the 747 and the 737 and all the other newer planes came out they had very good safety features too, but some planes still crashed. Even when a small airliner crashes it is still a horrible accident, but there are usually like 350 people tops on a plane. But now with the A380, which can hold 800 people i mean if even n full packed A380 goes down it is huge massacre. So now for my question: Don't you think that Airbus went too far with size and don't you think the A380 is too big?? Please only serious answers.

I have a 2007 Harley Davidson Softail Custom. I am doing a 103 cubic inch upgrade and would like to get at least 115 lb/ft of torque at the rear wheel when I am done. I currently am running with Rhinehart pipes and a SE air cleaner. My local dealer says that he does not think he can get me that much torque from the 103 big bore kit and cyllinders, aggressive gear driven cams, and an SE race tuner. Any ideas how I can get at least that much power without having to run on race gas? I mentioned having head work done, but he said he has not seen numbers that high from previous customers that have had head work done.

I find this story hard to believe. A woman tried to open the emergency door at 30,000 feet, and the guy who helped stop her was kicked off the plane! What boggles my mind the most is that it would actually be possible to open the door at that altitude. Wouldn't there be some fail-safe precaution that only allows the door to be opened at ground level or below a certain altitude? And wouldn't the difference in pressure preclude the door from opening at that altitude?

I was in an accident a month and a half ago. I had to have the entire front of my car replaced and repainted. It's a brand new car, I bought it in January. The paint on the front of the car doesn't match the color on the rest of the car exactly, plus it's not as shiny. I usually wax my car pretty frequently, so could that have something to do with it? Will the color blend better once the car is waxed a few times?

I don't know why you would want to do it, but if someone had a street bike and wanted to limit the top speed to 80 mph, can that be done? I can understand it on a motorcycle for a little kid, but for a full size motorcycle? Is there any kind of chip that can be installed?
