I have moved between 2 locations within 2 years of purchasing a home at the first location. I am aware that in order to avoid capital gains on the profit of the first home, my workplace has to be >50 miles from the previous workplace in order to qualify for the "safe harbor" modification to the capital gains law. I have done so and have moved into our new home (work 52 miles from original work and home is 50 miles from original home). I am currently in the position where I can improve my employment situation. However, it would require me to take another job at a location 30 miles further, for a total of 82 miles from the initial job. I am in the 21st month of the 24 necessary to avoid capital gains, but I don't want to pass up this opportunity. Any insight anyone can provide (e.g. website) would be greatly apprecaited. Thank you in advance!

Also, why do i have to pay double social security tax? on Payroll I already make $63,000 and pay a ton of ssi tax...

I've worked minimum wage jobs off and on for the past 6 years but have never filed a tax return. Each year I made less then $6,000 total. I just recently graduated college and am now ready to assert some finacial responsibility, am I due money or would I possibly owe money to the IRS?

Last year we donated a lot of baby cloths, and when I mean a lot I mean 6 5-gallon bags full. We estimated probably atleast $1000 dollars worth of cloths - I mean, on the order of mutiple hundreds of outfits. We made a few other donations of consumer electronics, and this tax year my accountant said I could only claim so much if I didn't have it certified. Is that true? Where do I get someone to certify my clothing donations, I have another 4 5-gallon trash bags of clothing that I've recently cleared out of my closets that I'd like to donate.

a researcher is interested in the amount of state and federal income generated as a result of audits performed by the IRS. in a random sample of 50 income tax returns, the amount due after an audit averaged $880.22 with a standard deviation of $210.71.

1. construct a 98% confidence interval for the true standard deviation of the amount due on an income tax return after such an audit.
2. a representative of the IRS claims that performing audits has helped to recover a significant amount of money and that the average amount due after an audit is more than $800. Test the IRS's claim at a=.02.
