The IRS is questioning your wages because the information you submitted on your tax return does not match the information that was submitted to the IRS by your employer(s).

Take the letter and your tax return to a tax prep place and have them read it and advise you. Did you make a mistake entering the data from your W-2 into your tax return? Did you forget to include a W-2? Did you put a W-2 from a prior year on your return by mistake?

There are lots of ways that your income information could be wrong. It is also possible that your employer made an error when sending in the W-2 information. You may have been issued a corrected W-2 and it never reached you, for example. They may have put the wrong Social Security Number on your W-2, or they may have put the wrong EIN number.

Check with your employer to see that the W-2 you submitted agrees with what they transmitted to the IRS.

Take care of this within the timeframe of the letter, or you may get additional fines or interest charged to you.

If that's the W-2 you got from your employer, and is correct as far as you know, then ask the IRS why they are questioning it.
