I was self employed for a while in 2006. I kept all of my receipts for all expenses in a folder. Time to file, can't find that foler. So now I have about $15,000 in untaxed income and no reciepts to backup my expenses. I'm looking at paying in somewhere around $3,000. I don't have $3,000 to give them. With all of my expenses and other exemptions, I was expecting to pay about $500. What can I do, if anything, to pay it?

I did the Free File with H&R Block online, which i did last yr also, but i just got married at the end of 2006, so i had to put that on there, i filed married but separate because my husband is not a citizen and he is going to have to pay taxes and i did not want to lose my refund this year, well they ask for his SSN, he does not have one, he has a Tax ID for his business but i just left it blank and put on there that i couldn't put one ( cant put it if he don't have it) so they say your refund can be delayed if everything is not correct, so will i have trouble getting my refund since i could not provide a SSN for my spouse, even though i am filing seprate ?

I have been earning a foreign income for 10 years. My income comes directly from another country. The office is located in New York though. I have not filed a tax return as my employer told me i did not have to do so. However the IRS is looking into our company since last month. Do I really need to pay tax here? If so what kind of trouble can I get into since I haven't paid for 10 years? Will there be harsh penalties?
Thanks for your help.

Can a 16 year old claim their siblings as dependants? I am under the assumption, that no matter what age, you cannot claim anyone unless you have proof that you have paid rent, food, and clothing for someone in the past year. How is it legal for a 16 year old to claim their brother or sister unless they have actually done all of these things?

I have been able to determine the Federal Excise Tax on my past Sprint, MCI, and Cingular bills but I am not quite sure about my past SBC/ATT bills since they do not use the word Excise on the bill.

Now before anyone tells me to take the standard credit or starts copying and pasting from the IRS website, let me save you the trouble. With the 3 carriers listed above, I am already well above the standard credit (not to mention you cannot claim interest on the standard credit) and have read the IRS's "Telephone Tax Refund Questions and Answers" document thoroughly. I know the time frame allowed, I know that the Excise tax has to apply to Long Distance charges (unless it is a bundled service where the tax is not broken a part for local and long distance). There is a portion of the IRS document that says to look for phrases such as Federal, Federal Excise 3%, Federal Excise @ 3%, Federal Excise Tax, Federal Tax, Fed Excise Tax, and FET.
