Hi...Over the summer I opened a small business so we had remodeling costs and new equipment costs. (photography studio) I just calculated my income vs. my expenses, and my expenses were about 7000 more than what I made. that makes sense to me, because my husband and I about broke ourselves trying to come up with the money to get this studio running. My question....is that going to raise red flags when I file, or will they take into account that I just opened the business and had a huge amount of expenses?

When I went to my tax accountant and did my taxes, it was not known that he missed one number for the direct deposit info. I tried to call the IRS since my refund won't be issued until later this month. I do know that when it bounces back that the sender will get an email that the refund couldn't be sent. I also tried to find a form or a way to contact (Yes I went to the IRS web site but to no avail. a big question mark. And the email from the help desk was like a frozen tv dinner( Sorry I don't understand?.) So who out there can tell me what to do. I was trying to avoid a problem and help resolve it before it happens, but it will happen any how.

My wife's ex husband has claimed their daughter. My wife does not work and I do. We are going to file married jointly but he has already claimed their daughter. This upsets me because he is doing it to pay off back child support. The daughter lives with us and I pay ALL the bills but was given no say in the decision. Is this legal or should I have had to sign something along with my wife? No papers or forms were signed at all.

My dad is doing taxes for one of my friends. We thought it was just this year's taxes, but he gave us three years worth of documents and said he hasn't filed any of it. Does he have to file each year seperately, or can he simply add up all of the wages (it's just very simple part time job income) and file it all under 2006?

Also can you claim toll as a tax deduction? Any help would be very much appericated.

In 2004 3 hurricanes crossed destructively thru many counties in florida. And i have heard as part of hurricane relief citizens of those counties are exempt from paying the 10% penalty on b4 59 1/2 withdrawals of retirement funds such as 401k and ira. Any truth to this?? Is St johns one of those counties???

I just was informed that my tax refund , which is over $10,000. and scheduled to be direct deposited will be rejected by my bank because my bank has a reject line at $5,000. What should I do? Who should I call?

When I started my current job, I claimed one exemption on my W-4. I just learned that I could claim zero and more money would be withheld, resulting in a big tax return. (I have to admit, I get a high from a big tax return and am willing to scrimp a little extra to achieve this).

What I want to know is this: Is there a way I can find out how much my paycheck will change before I actually make the change? I work for a big company and HR is unlikely to be helpful enough to figure it out for me.

We were married in October 2006. My husband graduated from law school in May and had virtually no income for 2006. My income was around 35,000. He just informed me that he did not file his 2005 taxes, though he believes the government owed him money. I don't know if it is wiser to file together this year to potentially increase the amount of our refund, or if it is in my best interest to file separately since he failed to file taxes the previous year. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Last year, my husband and I filed injured spouse because he owes for student loans and he owed child support. So he didn't get a refund, but I did. It took over three months to get our return back. I don't know too much about income taxes. A co-worker said we should do married filing separately. I just don't know the difference between injured spouse and married filing separately.
