Can I claim my fiance (20 Years old) as a dependent on my taxes? Can she also file without claiming herself?

No, you can't claim her, for at least two reasons. Since she's not closely related to you by blood or marriage, she would have had to live with you ALL year, not just 9 months, for you to claim her. Also, her income couldn't have been over $3300 for you to claim her, and it was.

She can file her own return, claiming herself.

Cookiesmom's answer is just plain wrong, and a little scary coming from someone who claims to be a tax preparer.

You cannot claim a dependent unles they meet the criteria of a dependent, and fiances do not. Marry her and next year you can file as married.

Your fiance has to be your near relative in order for you to claim her as a dependent. Go to www.irs.gov, individual, and what is a dependent?

yes and yes....she will get back everything she paid in you should get back most of yours...make sure she checks the box on the front of the 1040 ez that says yes someone else can claim you...all this does is take away her personal exemption but she wont need it because the standard deduction will take care of the agi and bring her to zero tax
