When I went to my tax accountant and did my taxes, it was not known that he missed one number for the direct deposit info. I tried to call the IRS since my refund won't be issued until later this month. I do know that when it bounces back that the sender will get an email that the refund couldn't be sent. I also tried to find a form or a way to contact (Yes I went to the IRS web site but to no avail. a big question mark. And the email from the help desk was like a frozen tv dinner( Sorry I don't understand?.) So who out there can tell me what to do. I was trying to avoid a problem and help resolve it before it happens, but it will happen any how.

There's not much you can do about it now. It'll be refused by the bank, they'll notify the IRS and then they'll send you a paper check in the mail. Next time be sure to check that the account number is correct. When I'm doing returns for people, I always check them about three times, then ask the client to also verify them while looking at their checkbook.

Direct deposit information can't be change..!! Sorry.. the IRS is going to make the deposit into that account if the information doesn't match with the name of the person of the efile they probably are going to have to mail the check to you.. That's for sure...

Good Luck
PS: Fire you accountant =)

Sorry to tell you that you'll have to wait for them to catch the error. Everything they do needs to have a papertrail according to their procedure. You will eventually get a letter stating that the deposit was rejected, and you'll have to reply to that letter to get it fixed.

Your accountant should be the one worrying over his error. He has more chance of getting this corrected quicker than you. If you paid this person to handle your taxes and there was an error, he needs to make it right.

good luck & bless
