Many years ago I was treated very bad by an H&R Tax office. I prepared my own taxes and back many moons ago, just to have them e-file was about 35.00. They kept me waiting for over an hour and acted mad at me because my return didn't have any errrors.
After that I mailed my returns until I went to Jackson Hewitt years later.
Their tax software does pull out every possible tax deduction and credit, but oh yeah, they are way expensive. And, you really aren't sure if you are getting an experienced preparer or a seasonal "body".
One of the things people don't realize though is that if you have a problem come up from a return prepared by a pro. they will do hours and days of work for free helping you with the taxing agency.

I would trust them as much as any other large corporation. But, if they are charging over 100 dollars for a regular tax return, that's too much. The IRS website has many places you can use to e-file for under 20 dollars. If you have complicated taxes, you might not want to do them yourself, but if your return is simple, those sites can walk you through quite nicely.

Unless you have a lot of complex issues (stocks, bonds, other passive income) try using TuboTax. It walks you through the forms and is really quite easy to use.
