I accidently filed my taxes without filing one of my W-2's. It was a small one (about $6000). Should I re-file? Am I going to get into trouble?

Thanks!!

that you had about 10 percent deducted (through state and federal taxes) from your wages throughout the year?...for example, $4,000 total deducted from $40,000 earned? I feel that my husband's boss is ripping him off. (By claiming he made more than he did) He refuses to give my husband check stubs (a looong story in itself) We owed over $2,000 last year and I am afraid it will happen again.

I'm thinking of hiring a housekeeper. Living in a small apartment, I only need help aprox. 8 hours a week. Four hours twice a week. I plan on paying $10 an hour after first 4 weeks, which of course will be $80 a week.

My question is, at this amount, do I report this for tax reasons? Most of those I have considered, prefer just having the cash, opposed to a formal paycheck with taxes taken out.

I want to do what's right, and know if a person's income is under a certain amount, it doesn't have to be taxed, but I can't find info as to what this amount is. In case it varies from state to state, I am in NJ.

Thanks for any help.

The current tax code has over 5.5 billion words, countless forms and instructions, and is too complex for the average taxpayer to comprehend. As a result, businesses and individuals face huge burdens of time and money to comply with the tax code-- in 2006, Americans spent 6.4 billion hours filling out tax forms for the government.
Switching to a flat tax would make it simple to pay taxes, saving everyone time and money. Under a flat tax, filing taxes would take mere minutes, and decreasing compliance costs would improve the economy-- all of those billions of hours we spend filing taxes could be put to productive use. Individual Flat Tax Form would have three questions.

1. Your Wages, Salary, and Pension

2. Marital Status

3. How many dependent children do you have

YOUR DONE.

You could eliminate 95% of the need for the I.R.S saving billions
No more Tax brackets.
The billions we lose from Illegal Immigration would be recovered.
I wish I could go on

The IRS has scheduled my income tax return for tomorrow. Will they inform me if they were going to take it for a defaulted student loan of my husband's before we got married?

Hi, my parents and I messed up last year while filing our taxes. I claimed myself, and my parents claimed me as a dependent. I don't know what to do to fix it. All I got was a paper from the IRS telling me to fix the problem, but didn't tell me how.

I am a NRI and bought a property in India by availing a home loan from India. I pay regular mortgage payments to this loan. I have rented this property now and I get rental income.

Given that I am a NRI, what are my options ?

1. Should I file a tax return in India for my rental income ? Can I deduct the mortgage interest in my tax return ?

2. Can I file the tax returns in USA instead ?

What are the benefits of both approaches ?

I need a copy of a W-2 from a previous job. They wont mail it to me, I've gone there to pick it up but everyone claims they don't know where it is, I've tried contacting managers but It now seems everyone is intentionally ignoring me. Anyways....I really need to get a copy of it and I know there is a website that can do that I just can't remember what it is. Would you know?

I was layed off due to lack of work. My old boss slandered me to hopeful new jobs that I applied for. This leaving me with no work for 6 months . They paid me 10,000 dollars in a settlement because they got busted and they took 4,000 in taxes. I have 3 dependants, did I get screwed?

I am confused about how to count off medical expenses- I was in the hospital in August 2006 and haven't received a final bill. Do you deduct your costs (I know 7.5% of income) for the year charges were made or the year(s) you pay the charges off?
