"What is the FairTax plan?
The FairTax plan is a comprehensive proposal that replaces all federal income and payroll taxes with an integrated approach including a progressive national retail sales tax, a rebate to ensure no American pays federal taxes up to the poverty level, dollar-for-dollar revenue neutrality, and the repeal of the 16th Amendment.

This nonpartisan legislation (HR 25/S 25) abolishes all federal personal, gift, estate, capital gains, alternative minimum, Social Security, Medicare, self-employment, and corporate taxes and replaces them all with one simple, visible, federal retail sales tax – collected by existing state sales tax authorities.

The FairTax taxes us only on what we choose to spend, not on what we earn. It does not raise any more or less revenue; it is designed to be revenue neutral...."

My sister-in-law has a 4 year old child. She does not work. Both her and the child have lived with her first husband (not the boys father) since he was born. No one has ever claimed the boy on their taxes. The ex-husband/current boy-friend/sole provider of the household has to pay taxes each year instead of getting a return. Since the mother(my sister-in-law) was once married to the man, she kept his name and that is the boys last name. I have always thought that he should be able to claim him, but they think that since they are not married and the birth certificate lists the father as "unknown" that they cannot. Please Help.

Thank You

yet I have bank accounts and some investments in the USA. What does this mean for me regarding taxes and filing? I have been told in the past that I did not need to even file. I haven't filed for 5 years. But recently it has been mentioned that if I have investments in the US, I need to file. What should I do? Will I be audited if I return to the USA?

I'm still not 100% sure on what to claim on my taxes. Right now it would be a lot eaiser for me to get more in my bi-weekly checks rather than a lump sum at the end of the year...In this case, what should I claim that they take less taxes out of each check? I don't have any children but I do live on my own/and have a full time job. What is the difference in claiming 0 and 1?

My filing status was changed from Married/0 to Single/0 back in late January (I don't remember changing) and didn't realize until now on my W-2. Problem is no taxes were taken out ALL year! Isn't Single/0 the highest deduction or am I mis-informed? How can this be????? I am a single parent and normally get a large refund and now I feel doomed with probably owing an enormous amount.....Help!?

I live with my Dad and he has always delcared me as a dependant on his taxes every year. Last year, I barely worked(was full-time in college) and only made about $1,000(total taxes was like $200). Should I file my own taxes for something different, so that I can get a little bit of money back, or should I just have my Dad put me on his file again, thanks.

My neighbor is a breeder. He has five kids and every year he gets a huge tax refund from the Earned Income Tax Credit. Within one week of the new year he already has his refund and all of a sudden he is ghetto rich. He buy's wheels & tires, quad & mini motorcycles...nothing really necessary. Why should someone who pays no taxes get a $ 6,000.00 refund? We pay all year and still owe at tax time...plus were trying to put a kid through college.
I wanna be ghetto rich!!!!
