Ok, I'm a complete moron when it comes to taxes. I'm 19, and I've never had to file any taxes, but I've been asked to fill out a W-9 for job where I could make some money. Will I need to file taxes in that case? I don't think I'll even make that much.

ok, this is the situation, my sister has lived at my parents for the past 2 years WITH her 2 children, she doesnt work, she is still married but her and her husband dont live togehter. he basically comes over once a week to visit the kids. he will leave her money for diapers and thats about it. other than that. she lives with my mom, she doesnt pay rent. my parents mentioned tonite that they were going to claim her AND her two children because they are living here too. my sister got mad saying she doesnt care if they claim her, but she wants to claim at LEAST one of her kids. I know from reading into it, that if she has been living here 60% of the time. which she DEFINENTLY has, that they will be able to claim her. i know for sure that the dad cant because the kids dont live with him and he barely pays for anything. my parents have paid for everything. my sister just argued that shes the one who takes care of the kids and such. but no matter what, she still lives here. who can claim?

My sis has been watching my son this year. I've paid her a total of $3,020 for the babysitting and this is all she has made all year. I've kept track of the money I've paid her by week for the entire year. I didn't claim what I paid her last year but told her I would be doing so this year because it is a larger amount. I haven't witheld any taxes from her. I want to know if she is going to be screwed by having to claim that amount at years end or will she not have to pay that much considering it was only 3,000? She is going to be married filing jointly w/2 dependents in Michigan Also will my giving her the spreadsheet I kept track of it on to take to her accountant be enough or do I need to give her a form of some kind?

I do not get the health insurance that is offered through my employer. I get my health insurance on my own and pay for it with my money that taxes have already been taken from. So I am paying with Post-income taxed money.

My husbands aunt, deeded a home to us, but it will not be officially in our name until her passing, however we have already renovated the home and moved into it. (it is on her property). Can we deduct any of the money we spent on fixing this house up. The papers leaving the house and land to my husband have been notorized and copies have been given to the remaining members of the family. Looking over the reciepts, we figure we have spent around ten thousand dollars on it so far.

If you win a house or something that you dont want to sell and you where responsible for all the taxes and everything, How would you be set up to pay that. Would you be put on payments or what. That would be like 240,000 in taxes. How do they expect you to pay that.

If file jointly, have to file injured spouse form because he owes IRS money so they take his percentage out but, if file separately, can't take any credits, I don't think.

My fiance's mom is not all there in her head. Our Daughter was born in April 2006. She called last night wanting to know if she could claim our daughter on her taxes. There is noway we would ever let her do that...she has only seen her MAYBE 5 times. I am just worried that she will do it without our permission before we file. She has her social security number from when she got life insurance on her. What will happen if she claims her without our permission??

In 2004, my husband and I didn't file one W2, and his unemployment that he was on for a few months. Dont ask why, I dont know. Anyway, we got a letter from the IRS stating we owed 1800.00. I went to Jackson Hewitt today (that's who did our taxes back in 2004) and had them look over everything. They put everything in, and it came out that we were owed an additional 850.00.

Now my question is, are we actually going to get this money back, or does this get deducted from the supposed 1800.00 we owe the IRS?

I am going to the local federal office tomorrow to find out for sure, but I would like to know now, if anyone has any ideas.

I've been the head of the household this year. I have a 4 year old daughter and am married to a 33 year old man who only worked about 3-4 months total out of the year and got approved for social security supplemental income late 2006. I am planning on leaving him pretty soon and was wondering when I file head of household and claim our daughter as a dependent, can I also put him down as a dependent since I had to support him the majority of the year and can I put him down as a disabled dependent since he was approved for SSI in 2006? Or what would be the best way to file?

Thanks.
