I am not sure if I want to go to H&R block to get my income taxes done- or if I should do them myself... I am wondering how much money I am looking to get back so I can figure what H&R would deduct and if its even worth it for me...
I'm sure theres a place to go that does them for you free but doesnt let you print or file online... cant remember!!

I'm curious to see if it is possible if I can claim my boyfriend for this year income tax. He's living with me and I pay for everything. He hasn't work for the past 2 years and I've been supporting him throughtout those years. I will be claiming house of household this year, so if he lives under my roof without a job or any kind of income coming in for him, can I still claim him?

I was told that the Irs has a time limit to collect on taxes or tax refunds that may be taken from another financial instituition. Does anyone know the time limit on this?
How do you keep them from taking all of your refund on a debt owed to Aafes? A military credit card.

For tax year 2005, I believed that I was eligible to file for the EITC for my daughter because I thought her father was in arrears for child support. I filed and received the refund. I found out at the end of 2006 that he was not in arrears, and so he was entitled to claim our daughter. I realize that the mistake was mine, and I want to correct it. However, now I am hearing that there is a penalty for filing for EITC when you are not eligible, and that it is you cannot file for EITC again for five years. Is this true? Are there certain circumstances that make this true or not true? If you provide an answer, please let me know the source so that I can look into it. Thank you so much!!

I self-publish a comic book online for fun, that I do sell, but the profits from sales are extremely minimal (under $50 for '06). Considering preparation and printing costs well exceeded any profits I made, could the expenses of printing and supplies be deducted as 'hobby' expenses when filing my federal return?

Also, I've spent money on supplies like paper, ink, brushes, etc. Could this also be deducted as part of the hobby?

Thanks.

Since Texas lets you itiemize sales tax on your Fed return can I still do this even though I am paying N.Y. state income Tax? What if I don't deduct the N.Y. state income tax - can I still take the sales tax deduction??? Thanks

Hi,
I'm married and in the beginning of the year my husband and I were seperated, so on my w-4's I put "married filing seperately". Now, we are back together and plan on filing jointly. Will filing jointly cause a problem with my status set to filing seperately ( I had about 3 jobs this year, 2 were temporary.)
