I have owned my own gym for 5 years. I have dealt with so many blows. Since opening I have had another 14 gyms open within close distance (some have closed out since). Now my best instructors (both sisters) have decided to rent space at our local pool complex (2 minute walk away) and teach there. I am at the end of my rope.. how do other business people handle this kind of crap and not let it destroy you? (emotionally and business wise). I don't want to sound like a cry baby but I have invested so much into my business and when your life is your business, it is hard to seperate the two. Where do you draw strength and determination to keep going?
No wise cracks please.

This is a charity started by the restaurant owner, which is the reason we took in the money ourselves, and we plan to host at least one charity event annually. currently a large portion of the money is listed as a credit in a "charity" account set up by my predecessor, and a small portion is listed as a credit to the retail account (normally we use this account for the sale of coffee mugs and other things with our logo) it seems to me that all the money should be put into the retail account and paid back out-to the charity we hosted the event for- by a debit to the charity account. Or should I set up a "charity in" (credit) account and a seperate "charity out" (debit) account?

My fiance and I had started a small business. The problem is we're trying to keep it from his ex wife. So, we're going to have the business in my name. The problem is the company card we use has his name on it. Is this going to be a problem when it comes to tax time? Anything we should do to keep it from being an issue with the tax man etc? Also, can I have him as a payroll employee even if we're living in the same house? The name of the company isn't either of our names...it's fictional... what do we do in regards to that? I also need advice about accounting software. We buy instrument parts to have installed onto another instrument (to make it more appealing), what kind of company is that? Are there taxes on instruments that need to be paid (an accountant told me he wasn't sure if there's sales tax on instruments)? Thank you for all your help.
