I have a ton (literally) of high end cosmetics that I purchased from a man whose shop went out of business. I have tried listing items on ebay but I would like to have my own buisness since I have 8,000 items I need to get rid of. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

yahoo stores

They hold the inventory, deal with shipping, you just list the items online and collect a check.

Also you may want to try to sell them as wholesale lots, maybe 10 or 100 of an item. Selling at discount in bulk may make you a little less money, but it is a ton less work. 100 small packages at a few dollars profit each, or 1 package with a dollar per item, yet only 1 box. I would choose wholesale lots.

Hello Vikky,

Go to http://my.dubli.com/4769 This website offers to insert items free of charge, no matter what value your items have. The page has a worldwide exposure which means that items in dollars are more attractive for costumers that live in countries with Pound Sterling or Euros due to the strong currencies. (They also run a promotion until the end of january to open your own shop for 49.00 Euros/Year unlike ebay per month.) Your items can be shown in different live currency conversations for better comparison plus the Final Value Fee is much lower than on eBay. The company started in October 2006 and won already an award in Germany. As I said no upfront costs is a risk free alternative to other online auction sites and the advantage is real "Global" Trading instead of local or national limitations. If you have further questions, please do not hesitate to contact me at any time. Contact info in profile.

Have fun and good luck.

The only real alternative is "Amazon Marketplace" if you want a similar sized audience to try and sell to.

Setting up your own online store would likely cost too much, as you'd need to buy secure webhosting from someone like 1and1 Internet ltd - http://www.1and1.co.uk / http://www.1and1.com then you'd have to mess on with pictures, product descriptions, and getting the place listed in search engines.

Your best bet would probably be to stick with eBay via an Ebay Store, then after doing a Stock-take of what items you have and grouping them together........ list them as "Buy it now" as I noticed with that you can list it as a single item + how many of them you have for sale.
e.g. "Red Lipstick (8 available)".

Try doing overstock auctions. It is much much cheaper than ebay. I alos think it is a lot easier to use. I shop and sell there all the time!

I sell on eBay and Amazon and think Amazon is better and easier to use. I would check them out. You can also open your own web site. It's real easy to do and not expensive at all.
