Hi there,

First of all, you need to decide the form of your software company i.e. Proprietorship, partnership, Pvt Ltd etc.. If you wish to open Private Limited Company, you have to get the company registered with Registrar of Companies.

After company is established, you can start business and no other registration is required. Once you earn taxable income, you need Income Tax PAN.

If you want further assistance, infrastructural support or export incentives, you can contact Software Technology Park of India under Ministry of Communication and information technology. They have offices at Bangalore & Noida also. Check out their web sites at the following address :

You can get proper guidance from STPI for starting software company.

Good Luck

Well, the idea is good. But, it is not a simple matter, to advise you, over this. Software company has many forms, like Developing, BPO, Body-shopping, etc. One very important thing is, what type of establishment (Sole-proprietorship, Partnership, Private Limited or Public Limited), you wish to start and what kind of investment. All this & many more information, is needed, to answer you.

Contact the district industries centre in the place you wish to set up the unit and get it registered. get the sales tax and service tax registration. get PAN and TAN for your firm.

Before doing any of this, have a business plan of what you propose to do, the kind of unit you would like to have, proprietorship, partnership or registered company.
