Here's the thing - my sister and i are sick of the corporate world. She is in business and knows about insurance and numbers. I am more artistic and creative. Is there some kind of business that we could start and go into for ourselves? [no comments about working with family please:)] I think a restaurant / soda shop would be great, but that means working 24/7. Something that could travel easily would be nice, like an online or service business of some kind. We both like our weekends and vacations (tho that probably wouldnt work well for a small biz just starting out. Anyone have any kind of suggestions? Oh yeah, we don't have all that much money to start either. Good luck!

I'm a member of a large anesthesiology group.

The income structure is identical for all members of the group. We bill in time based units on anesthesia services we deliver to the patient.

Many in the group have assumed additional, uncompensated, roles. We have a board of directors who manages the business side of things (I'm a board member). We have others who spend hours each week on unpaid tasks such as running the group website. Nobody gets paid for this and nobody wants to pay someone else to do this.

We can currently expense items related to our work and take this out of our own billings on a pre-tax basis. If I buy books or attend a meeting, I fill out an expense report and get that money reimbursed to me pre-tax

My question is can we pay ourselves for uncompensated non-anesthesia work and shift some income from our W2 to a 1099? More flexibility in deducting things on the Sched C and we already pay our own employers portion of income tax so the self employment tax is a wash

Do you think an exotic dance studio would be profitable if i hired an instructor? as far as i can tell there isnt any dance studio like that around here, the closest is at least an hour and a half - two hours away.

I have been doing a lot of research on real estate investing for the past year and I feel I know enough to start a business but for some reason I just can't get myself to start. I don't know if it's because I am intimidated about speaking to other people, or if it's because I don't want to get put into a situation where I don't know everything I am suppossed to and look like a fool infront of the people I am doing business with. I feel as though I am ready but I still have that nervous feeling in the pit of my stomach. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

She breaks every rule, disregards customers needs and is self absorbed and a liar..and the job market to hire is extremely scarce..what would be better...fire her or close on those shift nites and put a note that when we find good dependable and caring staff members we will reopen..and hopefully ASAP....or any other suggestions...our numbers are going down every month

I'm trying to start an apparel/t-shirt business online and want to do it the right way. Alot of people screen print their designs on any old plain t-shirts, but that's whack. I want to be able to choose my own material (like cotton, acrylic, henley, etc), the fit (loose, tapered, etc), the application (screen printing, embroidery, patches, etc) and tag (though it will probably be S/P'd on the inside as well). I know there's probably not one single place I could go to where that can all come together, but I'm curious to know how many stops I'd have to make and get a ballpark of how much I'd have to spend. Who do you go to with the material you want and say "Here, these are the measurements." and how do companies get their own custom tags? It's kind of backwards that this is the last information I need to get going. Can anyone knowledgable offer me help? If so, please, be as specific as possible. Thank you! - RMM

in it when received. I know the battery was in the item. We bought this item, used it 2/3 times&put it back in the manufacturer's box. It's been stored in our game room amid the games for quite some time. I went through the games, found it&decided to sell it with other items on ebay. I didn't have proof (picture of the battery itself) so I tried to resolve it by buying a brand new battery in it's factory box, sealed w/factory tape. The buyer stated the item STILL did not work! She filed a claim with paypal. 1 thing in her claim was that she hadn't returned the manual (there WAS a picture of this on the auction) but was going to do so(have not recv'd yet). I asked her about the box that the new battery was sent to her in, says she threw it away. Paypal resolved the claim in buyer's favor. I sent them an email stating the buyer didn't return the item to me in it's shipped condition, ie missing manual,no box to return battery, buyer states this FACT in dispute on paypal! Can I sue paypal?
