I have a really neat invention. I'm fairly inexperienced when it comes to the patent part of my invention. Does anyone know what the best way to patent something is. Any kind of idea would be helpful.

Business methods are patentable and searchable on the USPTO's website. But there are several problems with it:

1) If a new business method is patented, how can one enforce it if the patent holder has limited financial resources.

2) It appears to be difficult to research if a new business idea is infriniging on an existing patent.

The bottom line is: how can one protect a new business idea?

A friend and I are hoping to start up a business to cater for the "wedding" and other special events market in our city as we see a vacuum in the market for the "personalised" touch and wonder how we could get started, what to look out for and what pitfalls to avoid - could anyone give us some pointers. Thanks in advance.

My ultimate goal and dream in my career as a stylist and makeup artist is to open up a studio salon. I have unique ideas and have had a business plan drawn up for two years, but keep adding to it as my ideas keep growing. There is no other studio salon like the one I have in mind around this area. I want to be the first to do this, but need to do some more homework first. I am a great stylist and makeup artist, but that doesn't mean I'd make a great business owner.

So these question not only apply to salon owners, but for small-business owners as well: What can I do to educate myself more on opening a business? What are the #1 things I need to know before I do this. How can I make sure that my studio salon will not fail?

Thanks in advance! Any help, suggestions or ideas would be appreciated greatly.

I want to open a convenience type store in my town and I have no idea how to get started. I have a building in mind, it was a store about a year ago but the woman that owned it died and now her son has the building for sale. The only thing is that it needs quite a bit of work. Unfortunately the building would be all I have if I bought it. I would still have to provide all of the supplies and I have no money.
