My 401K is substantial, was employed for 12 years. Do I have to make annual contributions to a new IRA, once my rollover is established? Can't the IRA act like a savings account? Is there a minimum contribution amount? I know the max is based on adjusted gross income.

Hi, I have $5000 at the end of the year. I would like to use it wisely and need someone's advice. Should I use the $5000 to pay a "portion" of higher-interest loan whose balance is at $40000 or should I use the $5000 to "Pay Off" lower-interest loan whose balance is at $4820? Any benefit of paying off the entire loan? Thank you in advance.

We have just had our mortgage application denied.

The financial advisor has now put the fear of god into us telling me that this was because of a few missed payments on a credit card. These happened over a year ago and this card has now been settled. He said that I had basically been black listed and I will not be able to obtain credit for 5 years!?

I'm feeling extremely depressed and have no idea how to make this better?

I am at the end of my rope with trying to find co-signers or financial institutions that will give loans to people with bad credit. I have other postings here that explain my current situation. however, maybe I do not have a lot on there about how I got into the situation i am in. A few years ago i got very ill, lost my job and had no insurance. My options were to pay my medical bills and get better or pay my debts. We are currently behind because of my fiance's health problems. Now that he is healthy again we are trying to get on the positive side with all of our expenses and we are struggling greatly.

It feels as though my only option is to seek out a private lender. so here I am. I have already had several people try to scam me on here so I know what to look for. If anyone has suggestions of where to fins a private lender that would be great. Oh and I do not qualify for prosper.

Hello, I have a Discover card with roughly a six thousand dollar balance that is next to impossible to get paid off because of the interest rate. The APR is at a wopping 28.99% due to some late payments I had made from being unemployed. I just recently moved in with a friend to help get this paid off but the payments I make are just not budging this amount! Can someone recommend a good and reputable Visa and/or MC credit card for me with a low or zero APR so I can just make payments with it to get this paid off sooner? I am dying and have to get this paid off! My credit is good. Any help/links would be great asap!

I am interested in buying a car from a man in Utah, and I live in Massachusetts. He told me that the only type of payment that he would accept at the moment, was Western Union, but he also told us that our money was under the eBay Protection Plan. He said that he will not be able to touch our transfered money until we receive that car. My question, is how do Western Union and the eBay Protection Plan work together, to avoid this man taking my money and me receiving no car?

Please understand that North Rock Lending does not exist and is a fraudulent company scamming people out of thousands of dollars. If any company asks you for money upfront to secure a loan, that's illegal. I bet they want you to western union it and then need the control number. Ever wonder why they need the control number? They don't have to produce id to collect. North Rock lending is a scam/ fraud fake company probably with terrorist ties.

I am in a rough situation in which I became unemployed, and I'm not able to go back to work till after January of 2008. but in the mean time, I have 4 kids with no income, with the exception of about $100.00 monthly. I do however have good credit and lots of credit cards.
So my question is, have you ever solely relied on using credit cards to fully pay your rent and bills, until you started back working ? I figure the $100.00 could pay the monthly minimum due on the credit card.
Has anyone else had to do this ? if so, what was your experience ???

My family had a trip planned to Orlando 2 years ago. We had all the money saved up and we were off, but then my husband got deployed to Iraq...of course we did not go without him. Unfortunately our vacation funds was soaked up in his deployment and trying to make ends meet while he was gone. He is home now but we do not have the money to go anymore and we would love to surprise the kids with this trip. It has been a really rough year and a half. Do any of you know of a company that finances vacation. Our credit is poor so a normal loan is not an option. We make good money now that he is back, but we just have not been able to save. Our daughter will be going to college next year and we know it will be tough to go once she is in college. Please don't respond if you are going to be rude and mean. I am just looking for some suggestions. Thank you very much if you can help.
