My husband I purchased a vehicle in October of 2006 and we purchased it for $33,000.00, we now owe about $31,000.00 and the car is worth about $20,000.00, so we are upside down about $11,000.00. We desperatly need to purchase a different car. Is there such a thing called car bankruptcy? We would like to file bankruptcy, but the only thing we own is the car and a couple of credit cards... it's not like we own a house or anything. What would we have to do? How would we go about it?! If we file bankruptcy (for anyone of you that have) how does it affect you in the long-term (buying a house, buying a different car we can afford, etc) My husband has EXCELLENT credit and we are afraid it will ruin his credit, but we would honestly like to start over and start fresh. What would you suggest? What is the BEST alternative to get out of this car and out of this negative equity?! Any suggestions would help, even better if you have been through this...

Ok, first of all, I know it's a scam...that's not what my question is about.
The letter I received in the mail about this "turn your $6.00 into $800,000 (blah, blah, blah" said that it had been proven by Oprah and a 20/20 investigation. However, when I went to try to find the actual transcripts of those two shows, I couldn't. Just for curiousity I'd like to see if there is actually record of it and to see what they had to say. Did anybody actually see the Oprah or 20/20 episode or is that all part of the scam?
Incidentally, I also find it interesting that the letter tells you that it's only $6.00; but then you have to mail 200 letters, so who's paying for all that postage?

Hi,
I recently took out a loan with a major high street bank

They payed the loan amount into my account and on the same day took the first payment out.

It says on my contract "The loan with interest will be repayable as below:-
Commencing 1 month(s) after the loan is drawn, at intervals of 1 month y 11 payments of xxxx and a final payment of xxxx."

I have rung my manager regarding this and have recieved no response. It always goes to answer phone and when i leave a message i don't get a call back.

Also, if i payed back 1 installment at the same time as getting the loan, surely that basically means the loan was for a lesser amount, so the interest will be incorrect?

Any advice....i'm going on holiday shortley and now can't afford basic spending money :(

instead of saving money together hes out buying expensive "toys" for himself and his children. We are both in our 30s and have allways rented so we both feel its time to buy since we are getting married soon.I have my "half" ready but whenever he gets "extra money" he spends it on things he or his children want. The problem maybe is he knows i have enough money the pay for his half too.I don't think thats fair. Why should i pay 100% of the down payment when he has money too but chooses to spend it on the things he wants. He complains all the time how he hates renting and wants a house but never does anything.why?

I contribute $14,000 per year to my 401k and make too much to contribute to a Roth IRA. We have our vehicles paid for and no credit card debt.
