When I was 18 I got into debt with a credit card, so I decided never to be in debt again. I’m 25 now, although I’ve never made much money, and I’ve always made minimum wage, I became a big saver. I’m proud to say I don’t have a credit card, just a lot of debit cards. I don’t have a fancy car, I have a Nissan, but I bought it new from dealership with cash, I’m not paying for it, my car is an asset. I bought an empty lot with cash, 10 miles north where there are no houses yet, but the city is growing this way, my property already increased its value, my lot will be part of a residential area in 5 years. I wish I made more money, but I don’t. However, most 25 year olds have a negative net worth. If you add my car, my land, and savings, minus my debts which are none. I have a net worth way higher than most guys my age who make more money. That is considering most 25 year olds have a negative income.

Even though I make only minimum wage, would you consider me poor?

I am considering refinancing my home. My two year ARM is about to expire. I am thinking about getting an interest only loan and making "principal only" payments in addition to the scheduled "interest payment". This should allow me to reduce the principal much faster than following the amortization schedule that would come with a conventional 30 year fixed mortgage. If I do this I will be reducing the principal and correspondingly the interest due each time I make a principal payment. How do finance companies adjust the monthly interest payment, when the balance due constantly changes, on this type of loan.

I think this adquately explains the situation.

i posted a question a minute ago and some very snotty lady answered without knowing all the facts! i am on benefits and have had to apply for these as my husband has just walked out on me and my son,he was the one who worked and the credit was only in my name as he didnt have very good ratings and then i had all the bills put in my name to make payment easier for me when he was working! i should not have to disclose all this but trish or whoever you are,i think you are very rude and ignorant to guess a situation and then slag me off for it! once my husband left i had to claim benefits until i get retrained so i can be employed with a decent wage!(i had to leave my job too)!you disgust me when i was only seeking help at a very upsetting time....

I am at university so have a student account. However, my loans and my wages from my part time job go into this account - I'd like to open another account into which I can put my own money i.e. not my loan, so that I can pay for food, living expenses etc from my loan on one card, and pay for clothes, other shopping etc from my wages on another card. What's the best kind of account to open for this and can anybody recomment a bank?? Thank you very much!

I'm working in Japan, but I want to send some money back to the U.S.
Should I have my Japanese bank transfer the money, use Lloyd's online service, exchange it in the U.S on my next visit, etc.?
Where would I get the best exchange rate?

A Indian Credit Card Issuer recently offered New Card holders 100% of permissible CASH Credit limit only as a 1 month INTEREST FREE advance with the ONLY cost as Rs.150(DD Charges)+Service Taxes, which was conceded by the Applicant at the time when the offer was made available & acknowledgement for the same secured over the telefon.
Subsequently when the Statement arrived a fee of Rs.223.36 was charged, the Credit Card issuer claims that at the time when the DD was send they has hiked the fees to 199- + Service Taxes. No information or concurrence for the same was secured from the Customer by any mode by the issuer. Now the Card Issuer says they can do nothing about the same. This works out to nearly 44,7% which is higher than the normal Cash Credit Rate offered by the Card Issuer.Given the abovesaid circumstances, where should I content this issue? Legal Pro's ONLY please. Thanks! Contact .

My friend's mother just passed away...bank says they will pay him with a certified death certificate. She has automatic payments for mortgages and utilities coming out of her account. Will those still get paid? Bigger problem is how he is to bury his mother without access to her funds to do so. He is stranded out of town at her house at the moment. Please help. I am not sure how to advise him...he is grief-stricken and in a total panic all at the same time!

I find myself in a hugely difficult situation this month due to unfortunate circumstances that just compounded over the course of these last several weeks. $2K would get me out of this, and I would be able to pay it back over the course of 3-4 months. I just don't know what the best way is to go. My family is tapped thanks to my divorce fees.

I returned something that was bought w/ half gift card, half paid w/ credit card. Then I returned that, and bought something else, used the mer. credit they gave me for the 1st return plus paid like $30 more with my c.c. I tried it on at home and I want to return it. They said I can only get a merchandise credi for that since I bought, return, so many times. EVEN THOUGH, I paid for some of it on my Credit card, Is this fair?

Why do we have to ask tellers to get us a deposit slip? Why can't these papers be in communal areas so we can fill them out in advance? Instead, the tellers hand us the paper and watch us as we fill it out and add up the numbers without a calculator. If they were handy before seeing a teller, we could take care of our business without pressure!
