Personal Finance - March 2007

With all the crazy spending going on out there, How can I get the government to help me with debt relief without filing bankrupcy... I've worked hard to have a good credit score, but my bills just keep piling up. I'm not a deadbeat, but I need help... and those credit agency are just another business to make more money.... Any advice??

You see I'm having problems of paying my bill back to where I use to live at. Its a check up that I took secretly from my dad, because its too personal, so my dad doesnt know about it. And if he did found out, he will get really mad and wont help me at all I bet. My dad and me arent close at all too. I'm really short on cash and I only have enough to pay it every once a month. So I was wondering if its ok, to mail the money. it will also come with a letter so it isnt obvious that there is money there. please tell me its ok :(

I live in Southwestern Ohio and would like to move out. I intend to move to somewhere near Dayton. My father says that I have to make at least $600 per week, but that doesn't sound quite right to me.

Lately especially I've heard alot of people talk bad about matual funds but at least in my case my 401k only offers that & a limited selection so at least when it comes to that part of my finances I have little room to change the mutuals fund, the type of investments, or the break down in which the fund invests so why do they still talk so negatively about it. I can see if you invest in mutual funds for the false hope that its an easy or cheap way to "diversify". I do see some positives to investing in them but I also wish I had more control or choice in them especially when it comes to my 401k. Anyways I just thought I would ask why people talk bad about them & so often if they are bad when there's not a lot of choice? Thanks for putting up with this silly question...

1) Save and build a bankroll
2) Don't waste time chasing short money -- working to the bone to get that 5% raise and extra vacation (you still gotta go to work 5 days a week and if you slack they'll pretend they never knew you)
3) Don't be a fake stunna -- buying bling that'll depreciate
4) Take calculated risks -- this goes back to #1, be able to sustain a few hits to last and beat the game in the long run
5) Have at least 2 contingency plans -- probability of 3 unlikely events occuring is vanishingly small

Thoughts?

I'm saving up for a Dell XPS system w/ accessories, and the total came out to around $7,200. I've been offered a construction job during the summer, and I know construction pays well... but how well? Also, are there any other jobs that could help me get this kind of money a little quicker?

I'm not asking for an easy job... I just need a way to get the money in less than a year. It's a goal for me.

Just to note, I have many gifts and talents--according to those who notice--such as digital art and imaging, composing/producing music, writing poems and stories, and other things.

I cannot get a loan from my Bank as iam in receipt of Income Support & have already approached my bank anyway.
I dont have any parents who can help me out,& my friends are broke at the moment so they are not able to help out either.
