I admit it numbers make my head hurt, so I could probally figure the difference in Excel but I would rather ask a numbers person. I can charge $10,000.00 with a convenience check at 5%, or refinance my house (plenty of equity) 7.5% or home equity loan at 7.50%. I want to be able to this loan off in 30 to 60 months. Where would the less finance charges by paid? Thanks for your help :)

I understand it's common sense especially if it's for work/business purpose, proof when suing or getting sued, any huge purchases like a car or house, etc... I felt my mom was exaggerating when she suggested I hold on to every single statements and receipts. No need to hold receipts for any more than a few months if purchases/payments made were for pleasure purposes (booze, cigarettes, dinner from a date, renting movies, skiing, etc.). Right? Or should I just use my judgement? Like go ahead and trash/burn those receipts/statements of pleasure purchases if I feel they won't be useful in the future?

I am no longer a state employee of CA. My retirement is sitting at 6%. I can leave it, roll it into an IRA or withdraw it? I'm only 31 and would like to leave it to avoid paying fees and penalties. Is 6% good or would and IRA be a better choice? Does and IRA require contributions?

Thanks Scott.

Next year I will be done with college and I'm going to live with my boyfriend of four years in vt. Right now he is working full time and has moved back into his parents house to save money until I get out of school. I want to get a house after college and have a small wedding but I'm worried that we won't be able to afford it because I'll have a huge amount of debt from student loans and he's just plain horrible with his money. Besides spending it on his daughter he doesn't know where his money goes because he is constantly spending a few dollars here and there on stupid things. He'll save up a good amount of money but then something will come up like christmas and he'll spend it all on expensive gifts for everyone. He keeps telling me it will be easier to save once I'm back home. I'm really annoyed and worried. I also told him I'd rather invest in a house then live in an apartment and never have any money saved. What should we do? How can we have a house and wedding?

I have my college degree, & I'm DYING for a job, & I'm disabled. I receive SSI & Social Security-$730/month. I can't work because I go to a psychiatric day treatment program, & I have to go here in order to keep my place to live with this low-income status as a psychiatrically disabled individual. I also have credit card debt, too. This is really stressing me out, & I'm crying for help. No one wants to allow me to work, & plus, they told me that if I work, I'll lose my Social Security & SSI benefits. One lady told me that the Ticket-to-Work Program was a scam, & that they take your benefits as soon as you start working. I'm in a stuck situation. Please help.
