Yes, no problem, except, you will have to go there to open the account, in order to comply with money laundering requirements. Be aware - they do not have free banking like we have in the UK. At best, you will require a substantial ($2,000+) maintained deposit to get free banking. Otherwise it could easily cost you $12 a month. The other annoying thing is that it is really difficult to get a credit card if you do not live in the US. However, the debit cards are good and are accepted in all shops.

Sure, anybody can. I opened mine in the US when i was there, has left the country since but left the account open and withdraw money or make a funds transfer every now and then.
You have to, however, let them know you want your debit cards in particular to be approved to withdraw money in other countries.

Don't people have Swiss banks? Probably means, yes you can... but I'm not entirely sure.
